OS DAILY Monday 21 Jan Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 21st January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

    Good morning,

Where is everyone. We've had a good couple of inches of snow here, I just hope mum and dad can land safely at Manchester tomorrow.
Ds3 school has closed for yrs 7,8,9 but open for the older years and 6 th form. He is totally unimpressed.
A day at home for me and a NSD hopefully. Dh has a couple of jobs to do and ds2 needs to go into town to sort out his bank account and visit a couple of agencies with his cv. Fingers crossed he will find something soon.
He has bought a little car to get himself around and insured it. So that's good and saves us ferrying him about.
Chilli and rice tonight. I'm struggling a bit to get with my healthy eating but I'm not giving up. Will try and spend some time on the wii today. All the jumping about will keep me warm:j:j:j

An early one from me, I think you all must b snow shifting. When we went to bed last night, our snow had almost gone, now we have over an inch of the stuff.
Been rather lazy for the last couple of days, feeling weird, as we should have been off to Spain, but the snow put paid to that, now going next weekend, fingers crossed for some milder weather.
Can I just ask you all, especially at times when reporting on he weather, if you cold add your county to your location, so we have a vague clue as to whereabouts in the country you are?
Plans for today include a bit more paperwork which has arrived, and getting DH to deep clean the ensuite. We are not using it at the moment as we had a problem with the fan, and as we were going away decided that it was too cold for DH to grovel in the loft at -7C, so would just take it out, secure the electric and replace it when we return, so good excuse for a blitz on it. We also have some carpet tiles to lay in there, not really a carpet/bathroom fan, but hate the ceramic tiles we have laid in there with a passion, so though this would keep us going for a while, they are black, should have maybe gone for a mottled pattern, but we will see and at <£20 will not break the bank.
Jools,Molly, LW and anyone else needed them some positive vibes, ((hugs)), spoons, etc., to you all.
Take care and keep safe everyone.

Had a good day yesterday and everyone enjoyed their meals - especially the home made pizzas in the evening. DD gave us a lift to shopping outlet and we found a nice new coat for oldest as her old one is getting tight :j

DH has a "landmark" birthday today and is feeling a bit down (he hates getting a year older) so had the usual "Would you really prefer the alternative?" which snapped him out of it a bit.

About four inches of snow overnight and dh has cleared snow off dd's car while I have a cup of tea and a browse on here. Breakfast will be whatever dh fancies - probably boiled egg. Lunch will be a la leftover beef with onions, carrots and gravy and a couple of roasties .

I don't fancy slithering around in snow so birthday meal tonight will be goodies from freezer - home made prawn cocktail, sea bass or salmon with stir fried veg and maybe apple crumble (his favourite) .I might try to bake a cake as we could do with a laugh ;) My cakes tend to be hit and miss.

New gas canister should be delivered this morning so we have additional heating - our kitchen has no radiator and gets freezing cold.

Hope everyone is well and coping with the cold and ice.

    Hugs to all.

    Morning everyone :D

Kids school is closed, H is working from home. I forsee a day of potential moaning as kids won't leave their dad alone, despite us explaining several times. I may need Valium :o

Off to walk Luna in a mo and then going to take the kids sledging. My mum is coming with me so she can be an extra pair of eyes, I shall do all the running up and down the hill

No idea about tea yet, haven't even made it downstairs yet :rotfl:

Hugs and spoons all round :)

Tina well done on finally getting snow ;)

Molly hugs for you, hope you survived form filling yesterday x

Stay warm and safe wherever you are :)

After a nice clear sky since 6 a.m.- it has just started to snow again
    - lots of little flakes but looks as if it will lie.

Just hope dd has made the drive in to work before it started.

I will need to get bundled up later to get things from freezer in garage but that is as far as I want to venture out.

    Morning all,

Snowed all day here yesterday, bit it was a little bit milder, and although we still have it on the grass etc the roads are fairly clear, so I need to drop dd at work this morning.

DD and J (the boyf) cooked a lovely spag bol last night, was really tasty, we dropped him off at the station at about 8 before the roads got too bad. We are due a bit more snow today.

Ordered some new bedding yesterday from littlewoods, they have flanelette sheets 1/2 price and on bogof, same with pillow cases, they should arrive wed, flanalette is so much warmer than cotton, so look forward to them coming.

Not sure whats for dinner, we were supposed to be going to the market yesterday to pick up a joint, but it was cancelled due to the snow, we have sausages in the freezer, but I fancy a roast.

Got the big throw from the sofa in the wm, and another load to go in after, need to have a hoover / tidy round, and do an online shop.

Stay safe and warm all xx
