    Morning :hello:

More food has been prepared for the freezer :D Roast chicken and a slow cooker full of chilli.

I'm busy making cushion covers and crocheting a bag to keep my wool in, for my nook. Y'know, the nook I haven't got room for :D I made a bag out of curtains, but have decided to unpick it and use the material for cushions instead.

It snowed for most of the day yesterday, only light though and didn't add any inches to what's already lying on the ground :(

The girls are laying well atm, we've got lots of eggs. I need to start using them up – good excuse for lots of cake I think :rotfl:

Ive a pile of ironing to do later, and I need to whizz round with hoover, ran out of recycling bags and black bags so have to nip out for them in a bit.

Brownies later ( the girls are icing biscuits and painting salt dough hearts) Wonder how many will turn up?

And dh has scouts and they are doing construction badge so dug out the mechano and lego for them to design something.

dd has 2 friends round to tea and then ill take them with me to brownies so ill have tea ready to serve for when they get in, ill make pasta as they all love that, some with pesto, some with cheese and dare i say it one with ketchup!!!

    Good morning.

We haven't had any more snow overnight, but we now have between 4 and 6 inches of snow lying on the ground.

Although the main roads are ok, our road isn't very good, so DH is working from home today. Also his office is situated in a converted farm building, so the lanes leading to his office are always bad.

So I won't be doing all of my usual Monday housework blitz. The vacuuming will have to wait, as it's not really fair trying to vacuum round someone who's busy on his computer.

He'll walk up to the post office with me, I've got a lot of eBay parcels to go, and it'll save me making two trips. Also we'll clear the driveway of snow. A couple of years ago we got snow shovels, they really make clearance a lot easier.

I'm boiling up yesterday's chicken carcass for our meal, shove in vegetables etc so will be a hearty chicken broth/soup/stew thing, just right for cold weather.

    Keep warm everyone.

Not snowing at the moment but the sky looks full of the stuff, we have had quite a lot here and I am waiting for DH to get home from work then he will go out and feed the birds for me.
DS has gone to college, not knowing whether it is open or not.
I can hear DH coughing outside, I think that he is trying to clear the drive, I have a nice hot cuppa waiting for him animated-smileys-winter-029.gif
He said the snow was up to his knees in places and he had to dig the path and car park out, it is a village school and all the teachers managed to get in.
Brrrr I think I am going to kill him now, he has gone out to feed the birds and left the back door wide open animated-smileys-winter-060.gif.

He has just come in said that it has started snowing again, but it is only light.

Oh well I am off to batter his eardrums :D

    Morning Nmlc and all,

hope your weekend was a good one and the snow didnt hamper your plans too much.

I'll summarize my weekend i think.

Saturday, shopping day... shopping centre was practically empty. No queues for checkouts and car parking was a doddle (for him not me). I got talked into buying a hat and scarf to go with my gloves. Since a child ive never been keen on hats which was compounded when i looked in the mirror with my new hat on and saw my Mother staring back at me. :( Well at least i was warm.

Ive managed to pay off a huge chunk of the authorised overdraft i ran up over Christmas. I'm proud of the fact i managed to pay it off by myself and without help from MrJudi.

Back to MrJudi, we are both building on our communication skills at the moment. Almost 28 years of marriage and we still havent got that right. Its like we live on different planets at times. His working away doesnt help as we seem to have grown in different directions.

Good news, my son has decided his long haired 'phase' is now over and wants to have his hair cut..... Now we just need to work on the stretching of the hole in his ear 'phase' and i'll be happy with that. He is doing well learning the chords on his guitar and played me a sample Friday night before his Dad came home. I'm so proud of him.

Yesterday me and hubby went looking in Kiddicare at things for the new Grandchild. I am hoping this Grandchild i wont miss out on as he/she grows up. My son has three children by his ex's but as they parted on bitter terms and i was deemed by one of them as a 'posh cow' i thought it best to stay out of the way. I still miss having little ones around me and i'm hoping that my daughters child will help fill that gap. Actually, she wants me to have it when she goes back to work after its born but i'm not sure i want that much 'hands on' experience if you know what i mean.

My other daughter and her partner are hoping to adopt their first foster child sometime soon in South Africa. I am aware i need to treat both Grandchildren equally so i'll have to work out something so that they are both treated equally (even if the one child is going to be residing in another country).

Anyway, less waffle. Jobs for today:

    [STRIKE]Vacuum upstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Dust upstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Stairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
    Dust downstairs
    [STRIKE]Kitchen floor[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Tea - Not sure what we will have yet though.[/STRIKE]

Have a good day all and try to stay upright. I shall be staying indoors just in case.

    Morning,

We've had snow overnight, more than on Friday and it's still coming down.Nearby school is open though quite a few in the town are shut.Leo enjoyed his walk with his doggie friend, then when we got in he went out at the back and had a good roll around.I wished I'd had a camera as when he stood up he had a big lump of snow on the end of his black nose :

DH was having a busy day at work today,so I hope DS2 manages to get there. After being at ours all weekend,he and GF went back to her Mum & Dads on the northern side of town & weather is always worse over there, nearer to the hills. They've asked if they can split their time between us while they save up for a deposit, which is fine by us as long as we are still in this house and have plenty of room.

I made 3 lots of soup over the weekend, parsnip & apple(thanks JackieO),broc & stilton, and ham & sweetcorn chowder after I cooked gammon for tea yesterday,so the veg drawer has gone down a bit, plenty frozen though if I dont get out.
Judi I absolutely love having DGD,but I would be totallly shattered if I minded her all week :rotfl: especially now she's a toddler and into everything :D
Hope everyone keeps safe & warm & has a nice day x

Good morning everyone, well snowed almost nonstop yesterday (Medway area of Kent ) but stopped last night and hasn't (fingers crossed ) snowed or even looks like it since.
Yesterday I was set for a day indoors as I don't like taking a chance on my wobby pins walking ,or for that matter even driving in snow much, but youngest DD Tessa arrived at 12.30 and sat 'Come on Mum get your hat on I'll take you to our house' so off we went and I had a lovely lunch and then dinner later with her and son-in-law and four very excited grandsons. The boys were thrilled to have around 4-5" snow to play in and built a snowman or two and the two dogs even enjoyed it I watched at the window in the warm (I'm not daft ) and made hot drinks when they came in cold and wet:):) I have never seen the point in getting either cold or wet as fun.I am definitely built for comfort :):)
Keith the builder arrived this morning and is hoping to finish off either this afternoon or at the lastest by tomorrow lunchtime. The bathroom is looking fantastic and I am really pleased with it.Tessa has started her new job this morning so I expect I will hear about how she got on tonight .Son-in-law simon is working from home today so the three youngest children are off as their school is shut so he is looking after them.My road is still quite clogged up with snow and we haven't seen any sign of a gritter at all although the main roads are fine.
I am staying indoors in the warm, I see no point in going out and falling over and breaking something.Hospitals are clogged up enough without me adding to them.No knitting club this morning either because of the snow but its not a problem I have enough bread, milk and fresh fruit and veg so have no need to shop at all this week.
I hope everyone is keeping well wrapped up and having lots of hot drinks to keep the cold at bay
    Take care everyone
    Cheers JackieO xxx

P.S. The sun has just come out here in the Medway so fingers crossed the snow will go :):):)
  • Morning all

Spent all night with fingers crossed for a snow day... no such luck! Kids at school are high as anything, can't see much learning happening!

Spent the weekend cleaning the flat, onky got the living room left to do. Hopefully I'll get that sorted tonight, befors/after cubs. Lasagna for tea, hopefully should do til Thursday as well if I portion it up right! Planning to get through til friday without any spendz (including the coffee machine) - it's worth a try anyway!

Enjoy the snow if you've got it,

    Lucy x
