Washing Powder, Tablets or Liquid?
Does powder work out more cost effective than buying tablets or liquid? I've always bought powder thinking it would be cheaper but even though I buy shop own brand I'm still finding its one of my biggest expenses every month. Just wondering how I could make a few savings here - other than not doing any washing!

damp smelling leather
I bought a second hand leather bag and as soon as I took it into the car I was getting a really strong damp smell, was a bit confused as it also smells strongly of the leather but it's as if it's been lying somewhere damp. No marks but strong smell. I wondered if there is something I can do to eliminate this or will just…

The pork belly is "herb crusted aromatic pork belly with a sundried tomato and basil basting sauce". I…

Feeling sad when giving things up
Hi, I know we're all for clearing clutter and stopping hoarding but I can't help feeling so sad about things I have sold on ebay :( We're in a tight financial situation at the mo, as I'm sure a lot of us are, and I've sold lots of things to scrape together some extra cash. My gold went last week, which I did feel a little…

moisture traps for window sills
In the winter months the bottom of my windows get condensation and the window sills often get little pools of water collecting on them. I thought about getting some moisture traps to stand on the sills during the cold months, but I wonder if there's a cheaper OS option? I see the moisture traps in Lakeland are about a…

Using up Froot Loops?
As the title says........ I have half a box of these things that no-one will eat. All the threads for using up leftover cereal seem to be more geared to using up cornflakes, rice crispies etc, so if anyone can shove me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. I even tried putting them out for the birds, but even they…

Hi all, hoping for some help and advice please! My dad already makes his own sausages, bread and bacon so hoping to get him started with cheese making! I have looked at some of the kits out there but they seem very expensive so I am wondering if I can buy the basics that he will need individually along with a good…

Anyone else snowed in and sick of eating out of the freezer already?
I know it's only been since Thursday and in the olden days they managed for weeks. I know I can 'manage' much longer but I'm absolutely fed up of it. When I get out the first thing I'm going to buy is some really fresh crispy salad and have it with a big juicy steak!! I'm bloated with carbs and fat as a shield against the…

What simple non processed meals/ingredients do you like?
Fed up of checking ingredients here there and everywhere to find out if we are buying something with mostly chemicals in. Really for health reasons as i have digestive issues we need to get back to as basic as possible. Obviously we have veg with most meals which i assume hasn't had stuff added to it! I'm thinking frozen…

Sending brownies through the post
Hi, my friend lives a long way away (but in the uk) and I've said for ages one day I will make her some brownies. I thought I might post some first class, I was thinking of tin foil around them then in a take away container before putting into a Jiffy bag. Do you think that will work or would there be a better thing to…
