Os daily thread Wednesday 23 January 2013 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 23rd January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

  • Morning Nmlc & all who cross/follow
More snow last night, but it looks wet now & the road's seem clear.
I'm off to work in a minute with 2 pink crochet blankets, one for a work colleague & one for hubby's niece. I'm making 2 blue blankets at the moment as I had 3 pink ones already made & I was trying to even up the quantities.
Fish are fed & packups made.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all:j:j

More snow on the ground for us again this morning. About another 1-2 cm.
Its still snowing out there but now its only very light.

My wife has just had a text message off the school to say that they are open as normal today.

Well I hope everyone has been enjoying the snow. Even if you have been just enjoying it from your living room window.

We are now on day 6 of the cold spell and I'm really starting to get fed up with the white stuff now.
I'm hoping that it wont be around for many more days now.

I wonder how much flooding we have too look forward too when this lot starts to melts ?

Well I hope that you all have a great day today.

    Keep warm and well

    enjoy yourself's.:j:j

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Still dark here this morning, but no new snowfall yesterday or during the night, but temperature still below freezing, so loads of icy roads/paths.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche sauce, all eaten and enjoyed - although I then didn't really fancy mine once I'd got it on the plate - so DS2 ate what I didn't! Remembered to get lamb out of the freezer so tonight will be casserole, I'm quite happy with the veg and gravy - there isn't that much meat.

Only working until lunchtime today so will get home and crack on with the normal list of jobs - seem to be having real trouble with getting motivated again - think I may see if I can get going again with the flylady thread at least I'll have a list to work too - even if on the days I work I only do to level 1.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday Miffy, have a great day xx

Hester, congrate on the new baby xx

Rained here most of the night, and all the snow is gone :(, thats probably it for the year for us, we never get much.

Off to work today, once home I shall do a wash, and put it on the airer, and dinner will be an all day breakfast, so nice and easy.

Cant remember who bought the de-humidifier, but they are great for keeping the condensdation down on the windows, and also in a closed room with an airer full of washing, they really help it to dry.

Jools, hugs to you, you are doing fab xxxx

    Have good days all xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning all, it started snowing here again at about 5.30pm yesterday and has continued through the night. It's very wet here so not much has settled but it must be bad in the Forest of Dean as school is closed. Well at least I get to stay home for my birthday. I am 60 :eek:today and can't believe I got this old so quickly...still it is only a number and I still feel 30 in my head:j Thinking about my Mum today as she passed away a year ago on my birthday. Roads aren't bad here so I shall take DD to work and then do some sewing as well as usual household bits. Hugs to all in need especially poorly people and pets. Have a good day all and stay safe and warm :)

    Morning Nmlc and all,

More snow! We have had more snow fall overnight. I'd say another 4-6 inches on top of the snow we already had on the ground. Its pretty tretcherous out there. I have drifts of more than 3ft in my garden in places!

Took the central heating off timer last night. At least the dogs didnt get me up to a stone cold house and my son had his early morning shower in the warmth. I need to put it back on timer ASAP though as the bills will be high enough as it is.

Hubby has just sent me a text. He's dosed up on paracetamol and lemon and wants to come home. 'The days of working away are over' he says. 'Well maybe you will remember those words when you take on another stupidly high loan' I responded. Maybe he will listen to me this time as he's failed to listen to me before.

    Jobs for today:

    [STRIKE]Change bedding[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Laundry[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum upstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Stairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Kitchen floor[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum dowstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Clean the leather suite[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Tea (noodley things i think)[/STRIKE]

Keep warm folks and try to stay upright!

Caught up with The Ulitmate Guide to Penny Pinching last night. Was very impressed with the lady who collected vouchers, a £60 shop in Tesco for a £5, and a wedding for £1500:T
Need to go to the library today. Someone has recommended Julie Garwood to me so want to see if I can pick up a couple of her books.

    Morning all,
Up early to clear last nights dinner dishes away and light the ingle nook for my SiL, she is still sleeping, we had a wonderful time y/day catching up and chatting, she brought her lovely collie, Copper, with her. he's a beautiful dog. The dinner was a success, she said it was the first meal she has enjoyed and finished in a long time. Her DH's funeral is on Friday so I'll have to see what hotels I can book for last minute. It was going to be next Friday but somehow the dates got mixed up. DH will drive her to the train station later for her 12.15 train.
I'll cook her and DH a full English when she gets up.
DD will be here in an hour as I'm looking after DGD3 today as DD is going to take DGD2 bowling.
I have made them a pack up and done some sarnies for DSiL.
    Off to get showered etc.
    Take care all.
    Happy Birthday Miffy _party_
