Computer refunded £5 too much - should I have kept it?
I bought some homeware products from a well known highstreet retailer for £35 - £5 multi buy discount. I tried them out at home and didn't like them so took them back for a refund which the manager did for me. He scanned them through the till and it said the refund was £35. The manager looked at my receipt - total £30,…

Using up hot chocolate powder?
Hoping someone can help... I have a load of hot chocolate powder (out of date!) which I'd like to use up rather than throwing out. I can't stand hot chocolate to drink (let's not get into why I have this stuff when I don't like it :rotfl: ). I like to bake sometimes & have a yen for chocolate cake with chocolate…

scorched boots, restored!
Just wanted to share this with the other mse'rs... I had a pair of very pale grey (maybe chewing-gum white) mock suede boots with a mock fur trim on them and pom-poms, and pretty pink shades of beads sewn on( like red indian style) boots. When I came to use them, I noticed however, one of my cats had been over the year…

drain cleaner
Hi there Having had to call out a very, very, very good friend on Christmas Eve to clean our drains with their rods I'd prefer to stay on top of things, I was wondering if there is anything you can do on a regular (monthly?) basis to flush the drains through without using expensive solutions. I'm thinking vinegar & bicarb…

Weighting pad on kitchen scales is degrading
We have one of those digital Imperial/Metric flat weight scales (Anthony Worrell Thompson brand) with a flat black square on it for weighing small items, or putting bowls on to weigh stuff in Unfortunately the black area seems to have gone very "sticky" and the material it's made from seems to be bio degrading. Does…

Large dual slow cooker or 2 small ones?
I have been looking into getting a slow cooker, but I'm a vegetarian and OH a meat-eater. I've come across this dual slow cooker, with 2 compartments: http://www.which.co.uk/home-and-garden/kitchen/reviews-ns/kitchen-appliance-first-look-reviews/morphy-richards-partitioned-slow-cooker-48762/ but was wondering if we would…

Feeding a difficult vegetarian
Please help - drawing a complete blank! My cousin and his wife from California are staying with us next week and she is a really fussy eater. She is also a vegetarian and lactose intolerant on top of that! (Although she takes some special pills to allow her to eat dairy products sometimes I think) She dislikes most…

Vegetarian recommendations for carnivores
I have a vegetarian friend coming over tomorrow night and I've promised her dinner. OH is resolutely carnivore and would normally expect meat to feature on his plate somewhere. In the past when she's come round, I've made pizzas so its been easy to cater to suit both of them. We had pizzas at another friends on Saturday,…

What Size Slow Cooker to Buy
I'm looking at the Morphy Richards 3.5litre on Amazon which at £22.99 seems to be a really good buy. However, on reading the reviews I am concerned it may be a little small for us. We are a family of 4 adults, two of them men with big appetites and sometimes I feed my son's friend too. So I am not sure. What would you…

Any tips for peeling clementines ....
Bought a big box of clementines last week from Lidl as they were a really good price (had about 25 in the box) They may prove to be a waste of money as they are impossible to peel. Their skins are just too thin....arghhhh! Never ever had this problem before. Anybody got any tips or should I just get the metal peeler out to…
