O/S Daily Thursday 24 January 2013 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 24th January 2013 - . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

  • Morning nmlc and all who cross/follow
Wet & cold here today, I woke up with a mouth like a camel's armpit this morning, hubby decided his work trousers needed washing, when he got in at 10 last night, I washed them & put them over the radiator. Hubby thought they wouldn't dry in time for work today so turned the heating up high! His trousers are now baked solid!
Fish fed, packup's sorted, WM on & it's time I got ready for work, have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Had a bit more snow in the night, only a tiny bit, but it looks pretty, off to work for me today.

When I get back tonight, I will put a wash on, and get that on the airer, something with chips for dinner, dd is staying later at college today, to do some work on a big assignment, her boyf will walk her back to the station, so I will do her dinner later.

Jools, I think break away will be great for you and ds, xxxx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Still dark here this morning, but no new snowfall yesterday or during the night, but temperature still below freezing.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was lamb casserole, dumplings, mash, carrots, peas, green beans, LO cauli/brocc cheese and yorkshires - did too much and unfortunately some did get thrown away - there wasn't much meat so tried to compensate with other bits and didn't get it right - not good! Not sure about tonight - am now running out of some things - so will have to either be very inventive or buy some extra bits to make a meal - will sort something later.

Had a bit of an odd day yesterday - having a bit of a CBA with anything spell at the moment - am going to get on to the flylady thread shortly and print it off and make a start today - otherwise it will be another day of not really achieving anything - then panicking Sat/Sun when it's obvious things are not ready to start the week etc. Will certainly try to catch up with all level 1's from Monday and then see what else can be achieved - brain seems to be overloaded with "stuff" and I just need to keep busy and hopefully everything will sort itself out - in past experience it does seem too! As well as trying to get into the flylady chores, have all the other normal chores to do, dirty wash basket is full to the top, have a fair stack of ironing too, so have a load still in the WM that is ready to go into the TD, would prefer it to go out on the line but way too cold and frosty! then will get another load in WM whilst first load in TD - hopefully I can get all loads washed and dried today and possibly ironed. I know if I can just stick with getting level 1's done and not putting too much pressure on myself then very often I'm then able to get really stuck in and get other stuff done too - certainly have a "list" to work too helps me greatly, does anyone else find that?

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Up and ready early this morning as I am hoping from a call from the agency, not rung yet so I'm guessing they might not today:(
So will have to think of another way to fill my day and keep busy, so desperate to get out and earn some money.
Managed to put on 2 lbs last night at Ww, I always eat when I'm stressed. hillstep I like the sound of the the two days fasting, do you have a book or website you can recommend.
Pulled out some turkey breasts for tea. Probably will have them stir fried with some veggies and noodles.
    Jools the holiday sounds fab
HH sorry meant to say congrats yesterday

    Have a good day all J x

  • Good mornign everyone :)

No snow here, well except the icy slush still on the ground, but brrrrrr it is chilly.

Totally lazy evening last night and absolutely nothing OS to report, except the cheap dinner of beans on toast. They were Branston beans at 4 tins for £1 so it really was cheap.

A bit more planned for today, lamb pilaff for dinner with my half lamb/half lentils recipe. Some ebay listing and I need to find a book I have sold on Amazon, though I have no recollection of ever owning or listing this book so fingers crossed that it exists.

Back bedroom which is known as GDD's room is due for a tidy and clean tonight. OH is marking exams so I will get dinner on and then do the jobs and leave him in peace.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day. :)

    Morning Nmlc and all,

more light snowfall hit us again last night but i do think its beginning to melt. I can see patches down my garden on the path where i can see the slabs. The dogs have started to venture down there again too instead of dumping on the doormat. Ive never seen so much yellow snow down the side of my house!

Not much to do today just a few odds and sods:

    [STRIKE]
    Vacuum down
Wipe over the appliances in the kitchen
Menu plan for next week/shopping list
    Spag bolegnese for tea
    [/STRIKE]

I'll faff around on here a bit as well.:)

Hope you like the picture. My little girl wanting to come in from the cold.

  • Good Morning all, sprinkle of snow but nothing heavy and hopefully it will vanish by the weekend.
Builder done and gone and I am just pottering around tydying up and getting rid of odds and ends.
Did a run to the charity shop with lots of books yesterday, and a cool box that was no longer used but just took up space in the cupboards.

Today its going to be more cleaning and general de- cluttering I think .Bathroom looks fantastic and I am so pleased with it. The builder is going to DD Tessa's house next week to replace her grotty kitchen sink and taps for her .Its my (easter egg treat ) for her .She is doing well in her new job and is enjoying it .
Right its time for coffee and a biscuit i think
Keep wrapped up warm chums as its a chilly wind blowing out there
    Cheers JackieO xxx
