Bought a big box of clementines last week from Lidl as they were a really good price (had about 25 in the box) They may prove to be a waste of money as they are impossible to peel. Their skins are just too thin....arghhhh! Never ever had this problem before.

Anybody got any tips or should I just get the metal peeler out to peel them? Can anybody suggest other ways of using them or keeping them. At this rate they could be in my fridge for the next month before I give up and throw them away:(:(!

i saw this polenta cake being made on channel 4's sunday brunch. it uses whole skin on clementines which are cooked then pureed before being added to the rest of the ingredients.

Cut them in half and squeeze them really hard, sometimes sticking a fork in as you squeeze them makes it easier

ohh that looks fantastic... have got most of the ingredients too so will def make that. Thanks for the suggestion.
  • Put the flat of your hand on them and roll them firmly on a worktop - this loosens the pith and makes the skin easy to remove

The method I always use to juice oranges/lemons is to warm the fruit for 20 secs in a mw, cut them in half, then over a jug or bowl stick a fork into the flesh and turn it while squeezing. It's amazing how much juice you get from one fruit.
