Descaling washer

Could someone tell me if i could make something to put throught the washer oldstyleee? The commercial descalers are a bit pricey so was hoping for a homemeade one :j Please :o

    I use old fashioned soda crystals. One pack (79p) does both my washer and dishwasher. Sprinkle some in the drawwer and some in the drum. Make sure it is empty and put it on the hottest wash available. Results, sparkling!

  • For descaling I'd use vinegar and leave it in the machine for an hour or two to work properly. The real question is whether you do really need to descale your washing-machine at all. The risk of scaling up is when you're heating the water but when that's happening you have detergent in there too to cancel it out.

    I could be completely on the wrong track with this, but my own feeling is that we've very possibly been brainwashed by all those C@lg0n ads on the telly.
