I made a delicious roast beef this evening and we have some left over. Is it possible to freeze slices to make up another meal. I was wondering whether it would be too dry second time round?

My family do this, and then when they reheat the frozen beef they do it in gravy, thus avoiding any dryness.0

I always freeze sliced leftover beef in the gravy. Tastes just as good when defrosted and heated2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Hi Islandgirl,
I did this at Christmas for the first time. I sliced the beef quite thin, no gravy, just dry frozen for use in sandwiches and my OH was pleasantly surprised, it wasnt dry at all. Will definitely be doing this again.0 -

I'll give this a go. Thank you!0 -
I would freeze in gravy as well. Defrost in the fridge overnight for the next nights dinner and I would re-heat at gas mark 6 for 30 minutes.
I do the same with chicken and turkey throughout the year. Well only Turkey from Christmas. We had the last of it tonight
This I freeze without gravy and just make new bisto and re-heat in that.
During the summer we just have the defrosted chicken cold with salad.0 -
I do this with roast lamb too - absolutely amazing with a little mint sauce stirred into the gravy. Great in a hot sandwich!

I always do this after christmas, day after Boxing day all leftover meat is thinly sliced (with the electric slicer) and I cut squares of baking paper and portion out a few slices (enough for a couple of sandwiches) place three or four portions in a freezer bag and freeze.
it doesnt go all dry if you defrost slowly. or you can used a few portions for a dinner. I do tend to warm those up a bit in the gravy!0 -
Go ahead & do it! We freeze beef, pork & lamb slices if we've had a joint, & this Christmas, I also did some leftover turkey breast slices which we ate yesterday. Just pop them in a foil tray or similar, & pour over some leftover gravy. They will be perfectly succulent. They don't dry out. All you have to do is the veg & you've got another roast dinner for another day (& it feels like a free one!)2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
