Cling Film dispensers and kids

Hi
seems like a daft problem, but its costing me a fortune, lol.
I buy cling film from various supermarkets and within a couple of days the kids have either broken the box or managed to tear off the cutting strip thereby making using the cling v difficult and I usually end up wrestling with it before finally giving up and buying another one...
Can anyone recommend a sturdy dispenser (not sure if I could house a catering one as hardly any worktop in my kitchen).
Many thanks

I rarely use cling film but when I do I just tear it myself, have never got along with those dispensers0

Baco easy cut clingfilm dispenser, just pull out what you need, pull down the cover and it cuts it off. I have been using this for a while now and its brilliant! Got a 350m roll from Costco but its also available in smaller rolls in the supermarket. Bit more money but worth it for not having the aggro!0

I don't think the dispenser things are that great anyway, I never got on well with them, but I would ask what the kids are using it for if it's such a problem?
I don't buy cling film anymore, don't really want plasticky stuff on my food, and have come to realise I didn't really need it anyway.
For covering leftover food etc, I tend to use either containers with lids or I just put it in a bowl and cover it with a small plate.
For wrapping things (sandwiches, slices of flapjack etc), my first port of call would be not to wrap it at all -we all have lunchboxes with little inserts in so I can separate the sandwich from the cake or whatever. Or a smaller container to pop in the main box. If I really feel something needs wrapping I would rather use a paper bag or some foil. I just dislike cling film - but maybe that's just me?
But to answer your question, I would probably just tear the cling film myself!0 -
We have a great one from Costco, its very big and solid plastic with a good blade that's enclosed. You pull out as much cling film as you want and then push the lid down and it cuts itBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

I have a Lakeland one (http://www.lakeland.co.uk/7518/Wrapmaster-Dispenser). It's brilliant, you press the lid down to cut, no pulling, riping and no waste. Love it!0

if you turn the clingfilm over it tears easily with out a dispenser
(its not my tip i saw it on one of the nigella lawson programmes)0 -
I don't understand why children would be using it anyway.. I rarely use it .. mainly when cooking mushrooms in the microwave or covering custard in a trifle so it doesn't get a skin.
None of my lot have ever touched it I'm sure.
Could they not use other more sensible stuff like sandwich bags, plastic boxes etc?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
In our market there is a stall selling 400 sandwich bags on a roll for £1.50
Might be easier to handle.Bossymoo
