Homemade pasta help

I was thrilled to acquire my Lakeland pasta maker from ebay, and knew that it might be tricky at first, but my first try was an unmitigated disaster!
I duly made the dough, and started the process of feeding it through the machine. Each time there was no problem with the first, thickest settings, but I could NOT get it to work from setting 5 onwards - instead of feeding though, it turned back on itself, winding round a bottom roller. I'm hoping that this will make sense to someone who has one on these, and that you are able to suggest what I can do, as I was devastated to have to abandon my plan for salmon ravioli for Saturday tea, especially after working at it for nearly an hour!

I use plenty of semolina to coat the pasta. I would feed it though a setting more than once if I thought it needed it. There are some good tutorials on youtube. I've found it to be a steep learning curve. I seem to of cracked it, but my mum still struggles.
What is your dough recipe and method to make it? Might be an issue there rather than technique once it's made.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0 -
yes, I would say to feed it through each setting a couple of times! one pass may not be enough to 'stretch' the dough! and of course make sure its not too sticky!0

Thanks for your replies. I used Jamie Oliver's recipe, which is 100g of OO flour and 1 egg per person - how does that compare to yours?0
