Fruit leathers
Having posted previously about the joys of fruit leathers I thought I would update, I read a quicker way of doing them in in BBC gardening mag, basically to every four cups of fruit you need one cup of water. Put chopped fruit and water on to simmer til soft then pass through a sieve or mouli, add a table spoon of honey or…

Does anyone know the proportions of cocoa powder to sugar in drinking chocolate powders (not the instant kind with milk powder). I buy a tin a week, and wondered if it would be cheaper to make my own.

Cleaning Question
I want to start cleaning with bicarb and vinegar etc, but am not sure the best way to do it. Should I mix it up and put in a bottle or will that fizz everywhere?! Sorry, I realise I sound rather stoopid :o

A FROG a week equals a special treat!
I have been totally inspired by the Weekly FlyLady thread and although I don't do all of it everyday, my house is looking much the better for it. As I was hoovering the stairs today I started to think about my FROGS! * Frog list - this is a short term list of annoying or horrid jobs that you have been putting off doing for…

Dairy free, soya free baking
Hi everyone, I need to bake something to take tomorrow to a picnic, but I want to make it dairy free as there are a couple of people who can't tolerate dairy (one who can't tolerate soya either). I was thinking either cookies/biscuits or muffins. I have an almost full tub of Flora White in my fridge (my MIL gave it to me)…

Freezing cooked salmon?
In preparation for a family lunch, I defrosted a whole side of salmon that had been lurking in the freezer since Christmas! I lovingly poached it in herbs, lemon and white wine - and the lunch had to be postponed! My question is - can I re-freeze it 'as is' or if I make it into quiches etc. can I re-freeze? (Same question,…

Catering My Own Wedding - Buffet Ideas?
Me again, yet another food question! I'm getting married in Feb :D yay! We are having a buffet at our evening reception and I want to do it all myself. Yogurt Pots
We seem to get through a heck of a lot of yogurt in this house, which makes for a lot of empty pots. Our council recycling service won't accept yogurt pots (wrong type of plastic maybe?) so I was wondering whether any of you lovely OS-ers had any good ideas about how to reuse them? I have been thinking of using them as…
