How long to cook a cake in one tin? It's in the oven already!
Hiya, I'm using a recipe for a chocolate cake that requires it to be cooked in two 8in cake tins for 40-50 mins. Because I've not done any baking for a while (watching my weight!) I had forgotten that one of my cake tins had met a sticky end, and now I only have the one tin. I have put it all in the one tin, but should I…

Have you any MS tips for me in my first flat alone!?
A little bit of back story... I've done a not very MS thing and quit my job in the middle of the credit crunch to take a 6 month break before starting my next step of my career. I decided to do this as I've been working for the company since I was 19 and going back I'll be committing myself for two years of very antisocial…

tiny scratches on ceramic hob
Can I do anything? It looks really bad when the sun shines in you can see multiple teeny tiny scratches. I clean it using hob brite or just rub over with an ecloth. OH has been known to use fairy power spray (or a nylon scourer!!) which I presume is where they came from (and from sliding pans over rather than…

Easiyo yoghurt problems
Hi, I've been lurking on the boards for ages but took a while to get the nerve up to post. I was wondering if anyone has the easiyo yoghurt maker and uses the sachets? I have found an alternative to Febreze and carpet cleaning!!!!
I have no idea why I took to reading the Febreze bottle but anyway. If you take a capful of cheap as possible fabric conditioner - no point buying the really good stuff - just pick one with a smell you can live with, decant a capful into a spray bottle with water (I used a plant mister) shake and hey presto you have a very…

Wanna make Frankie & Benny's style meatballs
(I THINK this belongs here on Old Style, sorry if it belongs on Food Shopping & Groceries) Frankie and Benny's meatballs on spaghetti. They taste really nice and meaty, although they seem to have chopped up peppers in, and they're not at all spicy...definitely one of my top 3 meals ever. I want to be able to either buy…

Freezing Dandelion Fritters & experimental food
I'm going to be making dandelion fritters tonight, but I doubt I'm going to eat them all. Anyone know if it's okay to freeze them? I'm more concerned about the crunchiness of the batter being ruined than anything else. Also, is there anything I could add to the batter that would help them freeze better? They're part of an…
