I have found an alternative to Febreze and carpet cleaning!!!!

Options
I have no idea why I took to reading the Febreze bottle but anyway. If you take a capful of cheap as possible fabric conditioner - no point buying the really good stuff - just pick one with a smell you can live with, decant a capful into a spray bottle with water (I used a plant mister) shake and hey presto you have a very effective alternative and it has the added advantage you can spray it on upholstery (NOT SILK!!!!) and then vac off cat hair ten minutes later, works for dog hair too!

    Wow, that really doesn't work!

It has been tried by people years and that is the reason that the odor destroyer formulas came into being.

I guess if you've never used old-fashioned air-fresheners, then your idea might seem good - but febreeze (and other, much cheaper, but very similar alternatives) are way, way better.

I like scented candles but they aren't immediate.

  • Well it worked for me. I no longer have a smelly sofa where the cat has sat on it!

One problem with fabric conditioner it can stain and when it's dried won't come out,so I'd be careful.
