Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wed 22nd April. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning.

I have taken the day off and once again I am going to get my tackle out, and hold my rod over the side of the boat this time in Newquay.mischievous.gif
Weather is a bit cloudy, but wind is low and it's sure to warm up later. Should be a good day with a chance to put some fish in the freezer.

Training was OK yesterday and should get us prepared for any mass fatality. Got see some body pictures of the Tsunami aftermath, which were none too pleasant.

Well, not much else from me I am afraid. Packed lunches, animals and then off to get a fry up and head down to the boat...

Morning N9eav and all to follow.

N9eav, enjoy your fishing, beautiful day here again today, shame I have to work .

The garden is looking great, and I would love to get out there again today, but never mind.

Carbonara for tea, with some ham left over from a ham hock from last week which was frozen, will do some garlic bread with it.

Going to take some of the cakes I made up to my dad this morning before work, he loves HM cake, and my mun has not made any this week.

Rubbish and recycling out this morning, and I need to swish and swipe the kitchen before I go.

Ok, have good days all, and N9eav are you sure Newquay is ready for your tackle :D

Edited to say, Happy Birthday to Princess pixiedust :bdaycake:I know you have not posted for a while, but thought you might still read x

    Morning all,
I didn't get the garden furniture weather proofed because I had an uncontrolable urge to go to the local Nursery and spend a fortune on loads of beautiful plants, finished weeding the beds and planted them, also did 22 large pots. No injuries, however  I was doing my Topary bit on a bush and managed to cut through the garden lights wire. Fortunately they were turned off at the socket.

Babysat DGD2, now 6wks old, for 5 hrs. Still as beautifull as ever. :A

Today I have to blitz downstairs and do a shop, I haven't shopped for food for 9 days, still trying to run down the freezers. BM and WM on, vinegar mix ready for inside windows.

PIPPA and PEN PIN Hope you feel better today (((hugs)))

    PRINCESS PIXIEDUST, Happy birthday _party__party_
edit. ESSEX BOY, good luck on your test.

    Morning!

N9eav Enjoy your fishing it should be a lovely day for it.

It's a lovely sunny morning again here it'll be a shock when the temperatures return to the normal seasonal average I'm sure  I'm about to peg 2 loads of washing out I love the smell when it's all dry.

DH on his way home from work & the elder 3 children about ready to go to college/school. DS3 is back tomorrow so its his last day of hols today. He still has some homework to do so he'll be busy this morning ;)

I'm going shopping for more food & general supplies then into our local town later this afternoon. I need to go to the library as I've read all my books. I want to get some lettuce seeds as well as I'm told they're easy to grow and will keep going right through into Autumn. It would save lots of money being able to cut a few leaves instead of buying expensive, tasteless supermarket varieties. Any tips on growing it from anyone? I'll be using a couple of very big pots in an attempt to keep the slugs at bay.

Welcome to any new posters - you'll love it here! ((((((hugs))))) to anyone who needs them. Penny Pincher - Hope you're feeling ok after your treatment yesterday.

  • Good morning everyone.

We're on the just about 24 hour countdown before our move. I can't wait! :D Just a few lil misc. things to pack and we're ready. Needless to say, the computer will be the last thing to be packed. :rotfl:

Little furchild Bree has of course "picked" this time to go into heat. Thank heavens for a big back yard as I dare not to let her off the lead around other furchildren. Puppies would be the LAST thing we need. I really must make her appointment with the vet to get her spayed.

I'm heading off to the new flat in a bit to do the final bit of cleaning up that needs to be done there. I just have a quick s&s to do in the old flat today as the heavy cleaning is done. Then a hoovering after the furniture and boxes are removed and we'll be ready to turn the keys into our landlady.

OS has flown totally out the window right now. :o The freezer is empty and I'm trying to figure out something for tea tonight. It may very well be beans on toast with cheese melted on the top. I'll figure that one out sometime today. Tomorrow night we're treating ourselves to a takeaway.

SunnyGirl I've been meaning to tell you that I love how you've added your DD's bf to your children in your signature. With so many children looking for a family to love and care for them, it is very heartwarming to see how a child can blossom given the chance. May you and your family be blessed always.

((((((((((((((((Gentle Hugs))))))))))))))))))))) to all. I've missed being here daily and am looking forward to things settling down after the move.

Thank you Peyton :o I have the same feelings for him as I do my own 3 so it seemed only right somehow. He's doing very well & is looking happy & healthy. He met his Mum the other day for lunch which left him feeling down as she was delighted to see him etc but kept the conversation very neutral & made no mention of the fact that she would ever like him home. We're keeping talking though and I've sorted a counselling referral out for him which should help.

Good luck with the move :D

    Morning peeps

lovely and sunny here this morning so i shall be outside most of the day :D

Happy Birthday Loopy Linz & PrincessPixiedust :bdaycake: have a lovely day.

I have a piece of pork cooking in the remoska and the washing is out on the line, the dw & bm are now empty and i`m having a peaceful cuppa before heading off out with the hounds.

We had a bit of bad news yesterday which wasn`t entirely unexpected but hit very hard. Our little old doggie went to the vets as he has slowed up a lot recently and it seems he has a heart problem. We knew when we took him on from the rescue centre that he had a damaged heart but he had been so badly abused that he needed somewhere just to live out his days and enjoy himself. He was in the rescue for a while until his previous owners had been prosecuted and rehomed once and taken back as his new owners couldn`t cope with him so we felt he needed more love than ever.
His story is so sad, he was injected with steroids and built up until he was a huge bulk of a dog to make him fight, he was awfully nasty with other dogs when we first got him and it has taken a lot of love and understanding to get him where he is now. Once the drugs were out of his system and he was socialised properly he turned into the most loveable thing possible and now has lots of doggie friends who he loves to play with. He is the happiest little thing, now he has lost a lot of his bulk he can do normal things like scratch an itch and walk properly (before he could only waddle).

The thing is he hates going to the vets and is so frightened, his heatbeat was 120 bpm yesterday and i`m so scared that the stress of this alone will finish him off, we spent all yesterday agonising over what the best thing to do and have decided to just leave him be and let him enjoy what is left of his life. We spoke to the vets about the heart specialist and what it would involve and decided that it would just be too much for him and make him miserable.
He already has a few tablets which he takes every day for his arthritis and to manage pain etc so the vet said to keep him on these. I have tears rolling down my face as i type this and my little oldie is asleep in the sun shining through the window. I really wish he could have his life again and be happy from the beginning. Sorry to ramble but i can`t stop thinking about it all :o

    Catch up later.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
