Lovingly go up early and made DD(15) a home made salad and cheese roll ( rolls baked last night) for a packed lunch.

DH gave her a lift to school - few minutes later looked at kitchen table an her lunch was still there!!!!!!

Phoned both DH and DD and neither of them had their mobile switched on- Grhh!!!!

Tomorrow I am staying in bed and she can make her own packed lunch!

Made a pot of pea soup on the hob as it is DH's favourite and had bacon and egg for breakfast to cheer myself up.

Can't be bothered to do much so browsing on here with a pot of tea.

Have been debating whether to buy Christy's towels in the sale and finally got round to ordering four bath sheets (sable colour)- should have been £120 originally and I got them for about £40 including postage.

There is sweet potato soup for DD for tonight and might do a salad or bacon, cheese and onion wrap to go with it.

Happy Birthday to Princess and loopy:bdaycake::bdaycake:

Hugs to everbody and see you later.

    Hi all

Oh my goodness I am so touched at all your birthday wishes. I really am, you are great 'friends' and have cheered me up no end this morning.

Was feeling a bit down as normally my birthdays are spent partying but this stupid arthritis has well and truely put paid to that and none of my friends have contaced me to see what im up to or to arrange to go out or anything. Awww well, I have a fab DH who bought me the best presents, a wonderful family and Im so greatful for the things I have.

There will be absolutely no OS going on today! :rotfl: I think birthdays should officially be days off from all that stuff!

Am going to go and have some pamper me time and then head to my sisters for some lunch and to spend some time with my darling niece, then its off to my mum and dads for dinner.

Hope you all have a lovely day

    Morning OS friends! hi.gif

Essex-girl - Good luck to your OH
Sunnyday - reading about your doggie made me cry too - my fatcat, Treacle was dumped and lived as a stray for a while and was really unfriendly and mean when we took her in but it's amazing what love can do for an animal and you have to remember how happy your doggie has been with you and how you saved him.
    D&DD - Congrats honey!
Nic1 - still thinking of you and remembering you all in my prayers

Sunny - I buy copper sticky tape from ebay, it's very cheap compared to everywhere else. Big pots don't put off snails or slugs in my experience, they are persistant lil bug*ers!

Well it's sunny again here in Devon but there are clouds in the sky today so not as hot as the last three days. Washing is out on the line, although there isn't much of a breeze. I have some plug plants to pot up so hope I can manage that today at some point. The ones on my window sill are all looking very healthy and happy which is nice.

I have officially blown the shopping budget for the month.. Tescos delivered but they had forgotten one item. I rang and said I needed it for that nights dinner so would have to go out to the shops now and buy it and the lady refunded my delivery charge which was nice of her. The only saving grace about going over budget is that there were a LOT of store cupboard ingredients so I am set for baking etc for next month.

Going to finish tidying my bedside table and the floor surrounding it - I have about 15 books and assorted 'things' there and cannot get even a glass on the top and am in danger of killing myself by tripping over the Good Housekeeping Book of Plants which is hard back and huge!

Warm gentle grouphug.giffor all. Do something nice for yourself today.

Happy birthdays LoopyLinz and PrincessPixieDust! Are you twins?

PrincessPixieDust - congratulations on all those wins! Do you do a lot of competitions? How do you cope with the junk emails that competitions generate?

I've been feeling a bit of that breeze MeanMarie was telling you about. There is a definite chill in it. I was going to wash some curtains today but don't think I'll bother as they are tricky to get dried inside. If N9eav is getting the same breeze his tackle will be well and truly refreshed.

My cats went a bit potty during the night and were up and down the stairs to look out the back windows about 20 times. I noticed this morning that the back garden door was left open, as was next door's. It looks like we've had prowlers during the night. I didn't look out the window as I assumed the cats were in a tizz over another animal - probably just as well as my gawping face at the window would probably have confirmed that my house is occupied by a single woman. What shall I do...? Hmm, maybe I should mention it to my neighbours and when/if the prowler returns I'll set off my alarm. It'll wake the entire village but the prowler will p*$$ himself and never come back as it's rather loud. What do you think?

I've still not got a job, boo hoo. I'm willing to work for minimum wage (so much for having a professional qualification and chartership, what a waste of time!) but I am not getting the interviews. It's a struggle to say the least. I had my leccy bill in recently and managed to pay that by leaving some previously purchased items back to the shop. Luckily I'd a few things which were unused and still with tags. I'm thinking of doing a car boot or something just in case I'm still not working when the next big bill arrives. What a life...

Sunnyday, doesn't the mind boggle at what some people will do to an animal in the name of "entertainment". I hope that they got the maximum punishment available. What you are doing for that wee dog is fantastic. Physically he is safe even if he's scarred, but to have mended him mentally is a real achievement on your part and is the true spirit of responsibility and compassion. He may not have a long time ahead of him, but at least he has known happiness.

Later I'm off to see my friend. Her husband has decided to walk out on her - what a doorhandle. She didn't see it coming and is totally shocked, bewildered, overwhelmed...she's trying to keep it together for the sake of her two teenagers. It's so hard for her. I can't believe it's happened really - a few weeks ago I was contemplating how lucky she was to have such a secure family unit, beautiful home, wonderful kids etc etc etc. I wouldn't want to swap with her now for all the tea in China.

Birthday chicks have a lovely day, bye for now.

Sounds a good idea to me.

Can you Ebay anything? Do you have any books for Amazon or Green Metropolis?

Can you advertise your professional availibility locally? (Just re-read that & it sounds so dodgy - sorry SnowyOwl!) Is it something that could be needed for small local groups who would only need ad-hoc help?

    Afternoon all.

Happy birthday Princess Pixiedust and LoopyLinz.

SunnyDay dogs live in the "here and now", so if he's enjoying his life now, you can congratulate yourself on doing a good job. It's awful to see them unwell, I know only too well, but I think you're right, the stress of having invasive treatment would make him miserable.

I should be making a quiche for tonight's dins, but my legs are so painful I can barely stand. I shall probably take some of my morphine syrup, and try for the quiche later this afternoon. I have a bar chair in the kitchen, so I can perch on that; and Mr LW has got the food processor out of the cupboard for me, to make the pastry.

Due to the mix-up with the shifts, he's w*rking the late shift tonight - I was going to get him to cut the front lawn when he gets in, but we'll see how tired he is. Turns out the chap who was supposed to be on shift has toddled off to India for a housewarming party!

Have a good day, everyone. ((((HUGS)))) for those who want/need one today.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Sunnyday, my dog had been diagnosed with a heart condition last year, and it was at the point it was making him so ill he was throwing up blood and couldn't stand, the vets wanted to put him down. My parents said no, as this also happened to be the day my grandad died. The vets put him on vetmedin (heart pills) and diuretics and he's a happy dog, you would think he was perfectly healthy just to look at.
My dogs hate the vets, but my parents watched a lot of the dog whisperer, and found the advice on there for calming dogs to be a great help. Hope all goes well, my thoughts are with you.

    Afternoon everyone :hello:

It's been a gorgeous morning here but it has clouded over now.

I've been doing my shopping today -butcher's, farmshop and Waitrose for baking stuff and fish (trout and Craster kippers). Haven't spent too much this week. The farmshop was full of local asparagus so I bought 2 bunches and will do so every week until it finishes. We only eat English asparagus and the kids don't like it so more for us:j bought a jar of hollandaise sauce too as a treat. There were the first of the local tomatoes too -cherry toms, plum toms and vine toms plus some fantastic looking PSB, watercress and new lettuces. I have forsworn the bagged salad;)

I have to take dd swimming at precisely the time I cook tea so tea will be a homemade ready meal -chorizo, potato and chickpea stew.

I've been to the doc's this morning -nothing serious. It turns out I am allergic to exercise!! Yes really:D For years (since I was about 18) I have sometimes experienced intense itching when I walk. It comes on about 15 mins after I start walking and starts at my ankles and can travel as far as my chest. It makes me feel like I want to tear my skin off. It stops as soon as I stop moving. It doesn't always happen- maybe one or less times a month so it has never stopped me walking. It has been bugging me though, and my family give me funny looks when I get it while we're out walking. It turns out it is a histamine reaction. The doctor can't say exactly what triggers it -temperature, clothing, food:confused: He says to take an antihistamine when it happens and to keep a note of temp/clothing/food when it happens again so that I can try and identify the trigger. I'm so pleased that it is actually 'something' and not my imagination and now I can tell people I'm allergic to exercise lol.
