how to clean halogen hob and laminate flooring?

Moving soon to a place that has a halogen hob and laminate flooring which i have never had before. Do any of you know if there is any special things I would need to know about cleaning these? I was thinking washing up liquid might be the best os/eco option? Also are halogen hob easy to control or are they like a electric rings, that when you want to turn down to simmer, they take ages to cool down to simmer temp.

Any tips apreciated, as I am just used to gas cooking and carpets!!

thanks in advance
Sandra

  • I have laminate floors and use a swifer with some dettol to clean it most days, you have to be careful what you use as things like stardrops can make it slippery. Occasionaly, I get down and clean it with just hot water and a damp cloth. They also gather a lot of dust around things like table legs.

I like having the wooden floor as with having kids it is easier to clean spills off, but the floor can get cold so you might want to get a mat for the middle of the room.
  • I think you will enjoy having both the laminate and the halogen hob.

I used to wipe the hob down when it had cooled after every use with the dishcloth. This kept most of the spills off. Sometimes, I used a non-scratch pan scrub. In an emergency, I used Cif, but only about twice a year.

I just vacuum the laminate twice weekly and give it a quick wipe with a damp cloth if absolutely necessary. I don't think it likes being wet. However, I'm sure it's much more hygenic than carpet.

Good luck with the move. Have an emergency supply of chocolate to hand

I only ever vacuum where I have laminate flooring, although admittedly I don't have it in any high-traffic areas. If it gets a mark or something, I just use a slightly damp microfibre cloth to rub it off.
