Any ideas for revamping a veneer bookcase?

It's fine but not very interesting and I was wondering if any creative souls out there have any…

Do you think this would work?
DH takes a yogurt to work everyday - Tesco own brand @ £1 for 6. If I can get him to like homemade yogurt, do you think I could freeze it in portion size with a bit of stewed fruit at the bottom, then it would have defrosted by lunch time? Would that work freezing it? Sorry probly a dumb question. Ruth
