my dh's favourite treat is getting some hot ring doughnuts from the local market but they are now £2 for 4
so after a bit of hunting i came across a very easy non yeast doughnut recipe and they are yum ,so if you want a naughty treat here is the recipe
ring doughnuts
12oz self raising flour
1/4tsp salt
1/2tsp ground cinnamon
1/2tsp mixed spice
4oz butter
2oz castor sugar
1 egg
1/4 pint milk
oil for frying
extra castor sugar
sift flour and cinnamon and spice into a bowl
rub in butter until looks like breadcrumbs
add sugar
beat egg into the milk then add to dry ingredients
mix to a soft dough
turn onto floured surface and kneed till smooth
roll out to 1 cm thick
cut into round and remove centre reroll this and cut into more rings
fry a few at a time for 2-3 mins turn once
take out the fryer and roll in caster sugar
and enjoy
this makes roughly 15 doughnuts
they taste great and cost pennies to make
