Washing smells yukky
I know this probably sounds odd but I though I would pick your brains anyway. Whenever I do the washing and it doesn't dry straight away it ends up smelling horrible. If I tumble dry it then it is fine but there are some things which can't go in the dryer and they end up on the clothes airer but then they take so long to…

Veg box - mouldy marrow
I have been getting an organic veg box delivered for a couple of weeks now and have been very pleased with the contents and amount. Last Friday there was a marrow in it which I put in the cupboard where I keep my potatoes and onions. I went to use it last night and it was mouldy - not just a little bit but almost all of…

How do I get the cooking urge back?
I used to love cooking and planning dinner parties, but now I'm married and expected to cook every day, I've grown to really dislike it. It's not something DH will share - he's really frightened by the thought of cooking. I've tried batch cooking, weekly planning ahead etc, but I'm so tired after a long day at work (gone…

Beef, beef, glorious beef - recipes?
We've been doing up our kitchen for what feels like an eternity (end of May), consequently, whilst not resorting to ready meals or takeouts (too often ;) ).... I, equally haven't had the facilities to do any batch cooking until now, the cooker got connected on Saturday ... tomorrow is the day for extreme cooking. Tomorrow…

Impossible to clean Pan!
I bought a German made "Run Alulith-Cast Pan" a while back from a stand in the Ideal Homes Exhibition - at the time I paid in the region of £60-£80 for it - so I expected it to be a quality item. I have followed the cleaning instructions precisely, but the pan has become so black with carbon build-up that it is impossible…

Good old fashioned Bartering - surely the original OS currency?
Just wondered if anyone else does this? My DH gives music lessons to our dentists' children in exchange for our dental treatment. Today we had our boiler serviced by another father - his daughter will now get so many free lessons until the number reaches the agreed fee. Guess this is really OS living!

Anyone ever put fabric cond on hair???
The reason I ask is that in a mag I'm reading, Gok Wan from the naked tv programme says he swears by Comfort as a budget alternative to a £145 over night intensive hair conditioner. Now I've put all sorts on my hair including eggs and beer, but I've never heard of this one. I'm going to give it a go on my OH's hair as mine…
