Hi
Haven't heard anything about not giving toddlers offal - in fact, I vaguely recall a recipe in an Annabel Karmel weaning book for liver, so I guess it must be fine?
We don't eat it in our house, but I'm sure DD would tuck in with gusto!

Hiya
I have the annabel Karmel toddler and meal planner and there are liver recipies in there I think from 6 months. My daughter is 20 months and she eats whatever were having, I just make sure not to add too much salt when cooking0 -
Well I am the wrong side of 60 and have eaten what ever was put in front of me.I love liver and bacon, and kidneys on toast, and have never thought that it did me any harm .After all about the only thing you can't eat from a pig is its squeal:D As a small child my Mum had to cope with bombs, shortages ,air-raid and rationing plus threee hungry kids .We were not allowed to be picky ,there was a choice, eat it or go hungry .As far as I know there is just as much nutritional value in offal as there is in anything else. Thanks to the interfering of the EU its rare to see a pork chop with a bit of kidney in it anymore .That used to be my late husbands favourite.A lot of OS food seems to have vanished ,Bloaters, Kippers (although you can buy those plastic sanitised ones that you boil in a bag and I think the discarded bag probably tastes nicer:rotfl: )We are so hygenically clean in this country now that all taste in food seems to have vanished and been replaced with plastic and cardbord tastes. Yet there seems to be more of an increase in tummy bugs than there ever was in the 1940s-50s.
No if you want to give you child some offal then go ahead I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't
My pet hate is all this rubbishy wrapping around food .It doesn't make it taste nicer ,quite the reverse in fact.Right thats my rant for the day over I shall go back to being a sweet old lady again0 -
I'm sure it is fine too
I certainly gave my babies pureed liver. I tried them on kidneys too but they weren't keen. I hope you have better luck. Stewed lamb's brains used to be considered excellent food for babies and toddlers -not sure now because of scrapie. Offal is absolutely stuffed with nutrients -check this article out http://www.westonaprice.org/foodfeatures/liver.html, not sure about the 'raw liver drink' though_pale_
