I don't know about books, but i do know of one blog who's author is absolutely nuts about cooking with violets.. This lady. If she looks familiar its cos she was a runner up on this year's edition of Masterchef goes large. You'll have to scroll down a bit to find the violet entries - she's done all kinds of things with them. she also notes that you can eat nasturtium flowers, by tossing them in a salad (and i know you can do the same with chive flowers). I also know Nigella has done some cooking with lavender.

other than that, google comes up with quite a few hits, including a page on the BBC, the RHS website, wikipedia and About.com - that page has a table on edible flowers which looks particularly useful (all links take you to specific pages not just the general website addresses for those organisations).

I also saw some hibiscus flowers in syrup on the lakeland site the other day, apparently they're in syrup, you put them in a glass and pour champagne ontop. The flowers open and give the champers a shade of pink, and you can eat the flower afterwards. Expensive though!

For specific books, a search on google on "edible flowers" and "amazon" gives a wealth of books.

    hope all that helps!!
