Cost of using emersion heater
Our boiler has given up the ghost and so the only way we can have hot water at the moment is by using our emersion heater. How does the cost of puting the emersion on for half an hour per day compare with the cost of hot water via the gas boiler for half an hour per day. Sorry if this has been posted in the wrong place…

New rules on boiler flue inspection panels
Hi, we're aware that as of Jan 2013 any home that does not have inspection panels for the boiler flues cannot pass any service and the gas supply can be cut off by the engineer. Our home is only 7 years old and does not have these panels. We read somewhere that we may be able to get this done under the 10 year builers…

I got free tickets for this show in London this weekend (http://www.improveyourhomeshow.co.uk/), has anyone been there, is it worth it? We are getting a new kitchen soon and we thought it could be useful to get ideas, but we can't really spend much so I don't want to go and see only super-expensive-designer stuff that I…

Bathroom design advice?
I've got a really hideous bathroom in my flat which I've now got enough money saved up to update. It currently has an avocado green suite with orangey tiles which were painted over with magnolia matt paint by the previous owner and now quite a lot of that paint is peeling away so it looks particularly bad. Part of the…
