Bathroom Fan - Quick question

Hi,
Our bathroom fan is not working correctly. So went and bought a replacement and the instructions said
'To operate this fab a remote switch must be connected between live and T (terminal) on the fan'
What is the remote switch, our old one had a pull cord. Would it mean something like this?

It's a fan designed for connection to the switched live of the bathroom light, so it comes on with the light, and has a run-on timer so it keeps running when the light is turned off.
If your fan is controlled by the light switch you can just link T and L with a short piece of insulated wire.
If your fan is not controlled by the light switch then you'd need to return it and get one with a pull cord.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Ok thanks.
My fan is controlled by the light. Would 1mm/1.5mm wire be fine?0 -
yes that's fine0

Just went to install it and the previous owners must have cut the cord back on the old fan as there was a pull cord inside the fan. I assume so its on all the time when you switch the light on.
Now i need to buy one with a pull cord this is the model of the one i bought but with a pullcord.

I would really like one with a timer, so is this down to the way it was wired in my bathroom and just going to have to buy the pull cord one. Not gonna start ripping up lighting wiring in the bathroom.0 -
We have just built a house and the fan is switched from outside the bathroom on an independent switch.
The sparky was going to use our house as a piece of practical work for upgrading his qualifications and the day before inspection he came and fitted isolation switches on both bathrooms at ceiling level outside the bathroom.
I still tease him about it as it strikes me as overkill but it must be part of the regulations now.0
