Nice one EDF - sneaky - be careful
I recently moved homes and as always, when i sent my final readings from the previous home, they re-calculated everything and of course my direct debt payment plan was below what I was using and I owed them some money. So I waited until pay day to pay them and using an email they sent to me with two buttons -pay now -pay…

British Gas billing
Not happy that despite regular submission of meter readings, British Gas regularly cancel and re-issue my energy statement. (I do have copies of each). We submit meter readings every month, and certainly did on March 31st, but they have now issued yet another statement, full of “estimated readings”, plus they suggest that…

British Gas Renewal
I have had this renewal offer through from British Gas, am I right in thinking this is a good offer? It's seems too good to be true compared to the standard variable rate so I'm slightly confused, my direct debit will only go up by £6 a month. It says tariff ends on 24 months but it's actually fixed until may 2023 so I…

Going Solar / Off the grid
Considering my options for going solar powered. Seems like there are a lot of rogue traders out there advertising and now have no clue who to go with. Does anyone have any good recommendations. I'm using around 10,000kwh on gas and 4,500kwh on electric. I'd like something to be able to cover this if at all possible. I have…

Is this how they calculate Direct Debit payments?
HiI assume that when energy companies calculate your Direct Debit monthly payment they base this on your estimated usage, with a view that you should have zero credit on the 1st April the following year? So that you can then build up credit during the summer before the more expensive winter months. Is this correct please?…

Scottish Power Fixed or go to SVR
Hi, im moving house next week. I had fixed in Feb until Feb 2024 with Scottishpower so I can port this to the new house. Question is should I go to the SVR at the house (British Gas) as the price cap is cheaper until September. The price cap is around 7.5% cheaper at the moment. It’s much cheaper than any fix at the moment…

Just moved house and forced to select a fixed tarrif.
Hi Peeps! We've just moved house, the house (3 bed, gas central heating, electric immersion tank) is much bigger compared to our previous property (2 bed bungalow with combi boiler). A baby is due any day now, so really we don't have much of an idea in terms of energy usage other than the one provided by the current…

British Gas still no statement
We were transfered from People's Energy to British Gas last Sept. Our payments went up from £170 to £230 as expected & we waited patiently for our PE credit balance to be processed. They have now included this in our payment history, but we are still waiting for a Bill/Statement to be available. Apparently our payments…

Free wall insulation
I'm not sure if I've dreamt this but didn't energy companies used to offer free wall insulation, which I thought was not gov grant related? I thought they had a quota each year so at some point it started again. Does anyone know more about this?

British Gas meter replacement chaos
I asked BG to install smart meters last October. After cancelling the appointment to do it at 24 hrs notice, they eventually turned up on Jan 31st and said 'no can do', because my electricity meters are economy 7, and BG apparently don't do E7 smart meters (despite selling E7 tariffs, and having not noticed that I was an…

Gas boiler is using 2.4Kwh electricity when being used-is that normal?
Hi, I am hoping somebody looking in has some knowledge on this matter. To cut a long story short: Should a combi gas condensing boiler (Worcester, top of the range when installed in 2007 and works wirelessly with Hive etc, tip-top condition, maintained and serviced by British Gas and repaired when necessary by BG under…

Energy In Home Display - using with another company
I'm currently with Scottish Power, but our smart meters were installed by British Gas prior to us moving in a few years ago. Within the last couple of months Scottish Power have been able to read the meters remotely. I asked about an In-Home Display, but Scottish Power advised me to contact British Gas. I sent them an…

Neon Reef to British Gas
Can anyone help. Like many, I was with Neon Reef and switched to British Gas when NR went under. I have an Economy Seven meter and have always given ‘day’ and ‘night’ readings. I am now on the ‘Welcome to British Gas’ tariff but whenever I query it, the tariff seems to have only one pence per kWh rate - so no…

Hi I'm on a fixed term home energy December 2023 tariff with British gas. Just checked the app and in credit by £774.24 electricity and £266.21 gas. Am I able to get this money refunded or ask for a direct debit reduction given how much in credit I am? Thanks for any help Pam
