SSEN Electric Meter move HELP!
Has anyone dealt with the same issue before ? Any pointers please ? I have booked in a service alteration for the electricity supply (moving it to the outside box). Had an engineer visit, received a quote, confirmed everything and installed the box and dig out as required as well as installing a new CU in a new location…

Warning! SSE attempted to cheat me, despite having a Smart Meter installed
Hi, I have gas with SSE and I have a smart meter installed a few months ago. I was surprised to receive a bill with HUGE April gas spending (when my cheap contract ended). This spending was NOT according to my smart meter readings. They have put an ad-hoc figure for my 1-st April readings! I had to contact them via…

Living in the Dark
I just want to preface this by saying that I have a disability that involves anxiety and cognitive issues.... I'm not an idiot but sometimes my brain has to work a little harder to get things. So if I've made a mistake in the post here, please be considerate. So.... We just got our energy bill (gas and electric) - we're…

Forgot to read the meter...
I haven't submitted a meater reading for ages (and I don't think anybody has come out to read it either) Obviously it would have been a good idea to submit a reading at the end of last month but I completely forgot about it. I'm presuming it would still be a good idea to take a reading now? Will they work out a…

Electricity in garage
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has any money saving ideas…. My detached garage (it’s about 20metres from my house, the land in between it is owned by us) has a separate electricity supply to my house, different supplier and therefore an additional daily rate etc. We use electricity in the garage fairly infrequently,…

New Electricity Tarrifs
I have a one year fixed rate tariff that runs out on 31 May. I have a current credit of £86 on my direct debit. but my supplier wants to increase my direct debit by 124%. I have read Martin Lewis's article in the Daily Mail and as he says there is no reason to double someones direct debit when they are in credit and the…

Central heating or Storage Heaters
Hi all, I have stripped out the entire central heating system in my 1 bed flat. The boiler was at least 30 years old. I'm wondering if fitting modern storage heaters would be viable? The property will be for sale soon so don't want to scare potential buyers off but with the ever increasing gas prices maybe it is an option…

4 Years of Estimates - Payment Plan
Hi all, Does anyone have any idea on how British Gas handle payment plans for large debts? I’ll hopefully get to speak to them tomorrow but their working hours and hold times makes it difficult during work times! It seems for the last 4 years my gas readings have been all based on estimated usage. I was submitting my meter…

Switch back to BG for smart meter functionality?
Hi all, I didn't come across anything on here about this after a quick search but apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, and please leave a link to where its covered, if you know. I am currently with E.ON Next and have a SMETS1 smart meter that was installed by British Gas. E.ON Next won't upgrade my meter and are…

Is my electric bill too high?
Hi, I live alone in an apartment. Turn everything off after use, have always done this, its second nature now (except WiFi router). Before the ridiculous increase in energy bills, I was paying £30 monthly. Then went up to £54 the end of March. Now, it has gone up to £88 monthly! (I know it isn't a comparison to what a lot…

Getting really annoyed with the "We use 100% renewable" taglines on our electricity bills
Hi all, Probably done to death already, but I am getting so very annoyed at seeing the "We use 100% renewable electricity" or words to that effect on so many of our electricity bills and advertisements yet the prices charged keep going up. Scotland I think last year generated 98% of it's electricity using renewables, yet…

In Home Display for Smart Meters
My in home display for SMETS2 is next to useless and is not user friendly. I have asked Eon to replace it with a Chameleon type which has a much better user friendly display. Eon say they can only replace it with the one initially supplied. Anyone know of a way round this?

Energy Rebate Scam
I looked, but couldn't find this using Forum Search, so here's a recent warning worth putting out there, even if Martin's covered it elsewhere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i9-jBv3eB4

n3rgy vs Glowmarkt API (Bright app/Hildebrand): different tariffs/unit rates
Hi, As far as I am aware, there are two mechanisms to get granular data (30 minute slots) from a smart meter: * n3rgy website * Bright app (Glowmarkt API) I have registered for both, but getting different data, particularly on cost. I am with EDF, on Economy 7. According to the n3rgy tariff data, I am on off peak tariff…

Eon next change of tariff, odd claim
ok, our fixed with eon next ends soon and we got the email about it. They said we can either get next flex, cost of electric £777, gas £703 or next online v13 cost electric £1048, gas £957. They state next online v13 is their cheapest tariff. Anyone spot the flaw in this claim?

Scottish Power
We are currently in a fixed tariff until the end of May 2022 with Scottish Power. We are paying £195 a month at the moment. Scottish Power have quoted us £440 a month for a fixed tariff after our current ends. This is not possible for us to pay. My partner has a decent job earning roughly £1500 a month after tax and I am a…

APP alternative to Smart Life Prog Stat .
Hi all.I'm looking for an aesthetically-pleasing and easy to use (the two pretty much go hand in hand...) Phone App to control my WiFi Prog Stat. I initially fitted a BEOK Prog Stat as an experiment, as I picked one up cheaply on t'Bay, and the App that comes with it - BEOK HOME is rather nifty in most respects - nice…

Solar panels worth it?
Are solar panels worth the installation costs now? Maybe unless you plan on living in the house for 10+ years? As far as I'm aware, there's no grants/money towards installing solar panels. Not even sure you can sell back the energy.
