I'm currently with Scottish Power, but our smart meters were installed by British Gas prior to us moving in a few years ago.
Within the last couple of months Scottish Power have been able to read the meters remotely. I asked about an In-Home Display, but Scottish Power advised me to contact British Gas. I sent them an email but so far no response...
So.. if I get a British Gas In-Home Display for my British Gas smart meters will it be of any benefit because my provider is Scottish power?
If it is worth getting a British Gas In-Home Display can anyone recommend the model to go for, as I've seen a few different types.
Thanks

As MWT says, the free IHD is a one-off offer. If you want a replacement you'll have to buy one. They're £50-£70.Hildebrand sell their IHDs from their glowmarkt shop (link). Stock availability is patchy but, if out of stock, they will let you register an interest.Or there's the ivie Bud, sold by Chameleon (another of the common IHD suppliers) from the ivie shop (link). There may be other options; I don't know of a retail souce for Geo IHDs but their website is here (link) and you could try contacting them if you'd prefer one of their products.

The tricky bit with buying a new IHD is sorting out the pairing, so don't be tempted to go looking on eBay etc.Hildebrand are a great place to buy from though.0

IHDs aren't supplier-specific. Mine was supplied by e-on but it's made by Chameleon and there is nothing on it specific to e-on. I've used it with four different suppliers now, including Scottish Power as it happens.skyking_comms said:So.. if I get a British Gas In-Home Display for my British Gas smart meters will it be of any benefit because my provider is Scottish power?
As has been said above, the issue is that an IHD needs to be 'paired' with a smart meter to work, like Bluetooth device pairing but it isn't something you can do yourself unfortunately.0 -
So if I got a device how would I pair it?Ultrasonic said:

If you buy something like the Hildebrand IHD/CAD or the IVIE Bud, the device supplier will pair the device to your communications hub as part of the sales process. Both Hildebrand and Chameleon are Registered DCC Other Users and they have access to the DCC network via their approved/secure Adapter software.skyking_comms said:

Expect this to be a bit of an uphill struggle since front-line CS won't have a Scooby's and getting through to the correct back-end team might be impossible.N. Hampshire, he/him.
