New Scottish Power fixed rayers
We were transferred from Avro Energy to Scottish Power , when Avro went into Liquidation. Our credit passed over to Scottish Power. They also continued with the same rate of £101.00 Direct Debit fixed rate, which ends 30th of June this year. We’ve looked at Scottish Powers new fixed rates, from July 2022 to June2023, it is…

Help with 300% direct debit increase
Hi there, We have just had our direct debit increase by 300%, despite the fact that the energy price cap rise is 54%. We don't know what to do - the company (Outfox the Market) is stalling and refusing to reduce the increase, yet it seems that now is an impossible time to switch. Any advice greatly appreciated.

British Gas - "We’ve updated your account to our new system" except they haven't
I got 2 identical emails from BG telling me that my account has been updated to their "new look" system. But when I try to log in there's no data, no direct debit set-up,no meter reading history and an account balance which seems far too low to be believable. I tried contacting BG by Chat - but the links don't work, called…

Just calaculated our weekly use of dual fuel gas & eletric
I took the reading last week in the morning about 10am Thursday and again today. 3 adults live in the house mid 1960's semi with three double bedrooms, an integrated garage, a large kitchen and a living room of about just under 21 foot wide and 15 feet deep. We all work from home so often 2 tv's on but we had reduced this…

Beware when switching
I have always switched energy provider on a quite regular basis, however I’ve had my fingers burnt a few times. 1. There is often a very good reason why some providers are cheaper than others, like having no customer support, no one to talk to when you need help. 2. And this is the most recent problem, being offered a…

Keep two tariffs or switch to smart meter
I have contacted my electricity company to request a smart meter. I was told that because I am on two separate tariffs, standard and 'evenings and weekends' that I cannot get a smart meter. Am I better remaining as I am without a smart meter. I should also have asked them if I could get two smart meters perhaps.

App to replace IHD
After letting the battery run flat, my IHD has lost the unit price so I'm unable to see how much its costing me per day I know that I could work it out myself but the IHD is a first generation model from SSE which doesn't show much. I was wondering if there was a good app that I could use to replace the IHD I did have a…

Which energy company has lowest standard tariff?
We come out of our fixed tariff on the 24th April with Eon next. Having read all the advice and seeing the options for fixed in the future it seems the only position to take is to go onto a standard tariff... Which of the companies has the lowest standard tariffs? Thanks

3 consecutive no shows from British Gas engineer
I am not sure if this should be on here or on the consumer rights section so my apologies if it's the wrong section. I am so frustrated with British Gas its untrue! On 3 consecutive occasions I have had an engineer booked to sort my home Smart meter out as its not working. I don't work from home so each time I have had to…

Help with Switching - price cap related
I have just moved into a property that was previously run as a business let - as a result the energy was with SSE who don't offer normal domestic tariffs & only business rates which don't appear to be governed by the price cap. From what I've investigated online, none of the energy companies are taking on new customers at…

British Gas enforced smart? meter installation
I have dual fuel with BG. I’ve had an email saying my electric meter is old and possibly dangerous and they need to replace it urgently. It also says that my gas meter can/will be changed at the same time I don’t want smart meters (very poor mobile signal in our area) plus other known faults and am happy to have standard…

How much do you pay per kWh for your electricity
Hi Everyone, I recently started renting a flat, which only has electricity (no gas), and SSE thought it best I go on a year's fixed rate to anticipate the increase in tariffs. However this tariff is really high at 39.74 pence per kWh (and standing charge of about 63 pence), with a recommended direct debit of £97 per month.…

Cannot keep pseudo single rate meter
* Not sure if this is the correct forum for this post, so here goes: I was on economy 7 over 10 years ago, but decided back then that I was not benefitting, I currently only use 18% of electric at night, so my then supplier EDF changed my tariff to a single rate, but leaving the E7 meter in place, using it as a 'pseudo…

Eon Next tariff increase
My Eon Next tariff has increased almost three fold since Mid November 2021. My night rate was 7.99p per kWh in Nov 2021 rising to 26.60p per kWh in April 2022. Day rate for Nov 2021 was 15.51p per kWh in April 2022. The daily standing charge rose from 18.39p to 47.67p. That is a million miles away from the 54% increase the…

Bill confusion
I joined octopus energy last march on a fixed gas and electric tariff with them adjusting my payments throughout the year so I didn’t go into debit. My tariff ended in march so I am now on a variable I recently got a bill and on it I have a separate bill for my gas dated sept 21 - march 22. I don’t understand why I have a…

Shell Energy March 2022 Late Bill?
Our Shell Energy March bill is now a couple of weeks late - we are on smart meters. Usually our bill is available 3rd of the month. delay probably related to the price cap rise but wondered if anyone else had an issue with their most recent bill? I’m keen to stay on top of any increase I need to make to my direct debit and…

Energy cap and energy related bills
I thought the "energy cap" - capped the limit the energy suppliers could charge? My supplier went bust late last year (October). We'd been paying £107 a month combined - (£1284) yearly. We were always in credit. We usually got a rebate of about £200 per year. When they went bust, we got a text from British Gas, saying they…

Why is British Gas increasing DD payments on fixed tariffs?
I'm on a March24 fixed energy tarrif and in the last few months they've increased the payments so they're now £225 in credit and usage is about to plummet. They claim to be building credit against next winter, but the original payment already took account of this, surely and they've repeatedly assured me that the tariff is…
