Gas/Electric tariff
Hi All, I need your advice on what I should do? My energy tariff deal is due next month. I have been on several sites and there has been a increase of £500 on the 2 years fixed tariffs compared to what I am paying now. With all the issues with the energy companies bust should I wait a few months for a better deal? Or…

I'm so confused and struggling where to turn. 2 people living in a 2.5 bed 1930's semi detached house. We are in the house (awake) maybe 6 hours a day tops weekdays and hardly in weekends. I love being cold so the heating is rarely on either. LED bulbs throughout. Our monthly bill is £97.27 Elec/391kWh average and £38.46…

No online usage data on EDF website since switch to EDF GoElectric tariff. Anyone else in same boat?
Since switching from a fixed EDF Economy 7 tariff to EDF GoElectric96 in July, I can no longer see the smart meter data on the EDF website. Prior to the switch, the data was being displayed. The IHD has also stopped working. The correct tariff rates and time of use were uploaded to the smart meter on the day I switched and…

E.ON to E.ON Next
Hello, I have been transferred from E.ON to E.ON Next. I had smart meters installed by E.ON earlier this year and had no problems. Now I am with E.ON Next they are not communicating. I wondered if anyone else had had similar problems, did it right itself or did you need to contact them? I have been asked to submit readings…

to switch or not to switch
Hi folks. My tariff expires in February, however I am anxious that the prices are going to get even higher next year so was thinking of switching early even though it means paying exit fees £60. If I do it through TopCashback I can get £120 for switching to Scottish Power Fixed Price August 2024 YM2 Online. There had been…

Confused by extraordinarily high gas usage
Hi my elderly parents live in a small 3 bed semi detached house. They don't use the central heating much, they have a gas cooker, and they do like wash-up in the sink rather than use the dishwasher. These things don’t seem like things that would use a lot of gas, however their metre readings seem to suggest an annual…

Are Solar Panels a good investment?
We’ve been quoted for solar PV panels that should give us more energy than we use on average per year. But I worry about whether the projections can be trusted. Do solar panels really save you money in the long term? With rising gas prices we are even considering installing an electric water cylinder to be powered by the…

Not sure what to do re Pure Planet fix
Hoping for some thoughts and opinions as not sure how to proceed. I am currently on a pure planet variable rate, spending about £850 a year. I got an email a month or two ago saying price going up on the 3rd of october, projected spend is 980 or so. I had a look at the offered fix, and have either a set electricity and gas…

With Igloo, moving house next week, anything specific different I should I do?
I've been with Igloo for a couple of years, I see they've now gone bust. I've taken photos of meters and screengrabs of my account, credit etc. I am however moving house next week, with a view to completing on Friday 8th (fingers crossed). The Igloo website says I should just inform them on that completion day of the move…

Hello I'm just reading through the elnur storage heater program setting and the economy/overnight default is 18°C but can be adjusted. I cant see that overnight temperature should be so high as when I had gas radiators at a previous address the heating wasn't on overnight so dropped well below 18°C They give the following…

SYMBIO DIRECT DEBITS
Just a heads up, Symbio notified that they would take a Direct debit on 8/10 but have already taken it yesterday, have asked the bank to refund, but advised that this may not be possible as the funds may be ring fenced for the eventual new supplier

Deemed supply after house move
We are possibly about to make an offer to an “all electric” property so the current increase in energy prices is a consideration. Can I confirm that even with E7 the “deemed supply” KWh rates the incumbent supplier will put us on can be no more than the cap, and that we can just stay on that unless/until a cheaper rate…

Martin is right. Better to just go with variable rate
Hi, I was previously moved to EDF when GNE went bust. I was moved with the same great deal I had with GNE. This now ends tomorrow. I have been checking different suppliers etc but no great deals so decided to wait until after October price cap to check things again. Just checked again EDF to see if it was worth changing.…

Hedging gas prices
I was wondering if a consumer could access any product that would hedge against rises in the wholesale gas price. Do any investment platforms or CFD providers offer the ability to go short on UK natural gas futures, so that you could create your own fixed rate by paying to generate a payout should prices rise above a…
