Utility Point charged me twice
I switched to Utility Point last November and after two direct debits they said they wanted to increase the payment from January. No problem with that, but in January they not only increased the payment but took it twice. I immediately rang and was told a refund would take up to 10 days (!). The ten days are up. Still no…

"Dumb" SMETS2 smartmeters and switching suppliers
We had smartmeters fitted by EDF a year ago to take advantage of a time of use tariff, but they have never connected to the servers: they are basically dumb. So instead we negotiated a fixed-price deal for a year, which is coming to an end. We are now looking at switching our tariff and possibly supplier. We have an EV and…

Green Network Energy dispute resolution
Hello all. I’ve just read about GNE going under. I have been in dispute with them over the past few months as the amount they initially said I would pay when I switched via this site has shot up from £80pcm to £120+ with a very significant account debit which has increased with each month I have been with them . Does…

Poor offer from boiler cover company, advice on what to do please...
After call.out...boiler service cover added a heat exchanger to the engineer report after it had been uploaded first without and this then disqualified my repair as heat echangers aren't covered. They advised the part that needed replacing was a unit that included the heat exchanger 1) established this wasn't true and the…

Smart meters
I currently have British Gas smart meters (which have been installed for about 5 years). If I switch to EON, would the meters be compatible ? I don't want to have to start submitting meter readings again.

Hi, My British Gas tariff ends soon, so I log in as usual to the Cheap Energy Club to view tariff options. I want to stay with British Gas, but no British Gas tariff options appear at all. Any ideas why ?

Reason for suppliers going broke ?
Had a look at Nord Pool, which is the major clearing house for auctioning generated electricity across Europe, with the power sold in MGW blocks, ( 1000 Kwh ) , priced to the time of day I don't pretend to understand all the tech data on the site, but the 'Next day Auction Prices', gives an average price for each day in…

worth getting E.on smart meter if I'll be switching in july?
I keep getting messages to get my meter changed from E.on. This would be a smart meter, which i don't mind. But, I'll be doing a comparison in july, and may not continue with E.on, would the new meter be compatible with other providers? thanks

Is there anything I can do to get EDF to change my prepayment meter to a standard meter?
During lockdown? They've stopped doing meter work unless its an emergency, using COVID as the excuse. I moved into my flat in December 2020. The gas was with EON. They wouldn't replace the meter as I failed the credit check, goodness knows how or why. So I switched to EDF as they don't run a credit check. The gas supply…

2 electricity meters
We have 2 electricity meters, one in the house which covers most of the energy we use, one we eventually found in a shed which clocks up about 10 to 15 units a month, we pay a daily standing charge on both. Is it possible to register each meter with a different energy supplier to get the best deal for each? We have no gas.

Green energy tariff changes...
They recently told me that their tariffs for the plan in on (Oak) are changing - They advised I go to https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/ to compare the whole of the market but on there and everywhere I've looked Green haven't updated their tariffs. They tell me (and I guess they're correct) that it's not their…

New home. Storage heaters.
I am moving into a house that has storage heaters. There is currently no gas connection, but I have had a quote for this. I do meet the criteria for a free gas boiler installation. I have also read up about the Green Homes Grant. Does anyone have any advice or experience on the best options to get rid of the storage…

AVRO missing from cheap energy club
I am currently with this supplier and they have been the cheapest over the last year. Why are they now missing from the list of companies shown in the comparison? I am pretty sure they were still there a few weeks ago.

Debt collectors chasing for disputed Eon debt - what do I do next?
Tl;dr - I moved house X years ago and gave my final meter reading to the energy supplier. Now, I’ve been contacted by a debt collection agency about a debt relating to the energy supply to my old house. The energy supplier (Eon) had made no attempt to contact me about this, and everyone I’ve spoken to at Eon and at the…

Stuck in 6 month meter reading dispute between 2 providers
I’m gonna try and make this easy to read but I’m so over all of it forgive me if I’ve missed anything. I switched energy provider last July from Green network energy to igloo. My monthly dd with GNE was £120 pcm for a 4 bed house with 1 adult, 2 children but I was useless at submitting meter readings. The house had a new…
