I feel like this is way too much ??I’ve looked at switching but it all confuses me ,could someone point me in the right direction please ?Forget what you're paying per month, it is not £130 and you can burn through all the gas and electricity you like, that's just a payment into a kitty towards your next bill.Need to get your usage figures from your bills and find out how you much per year.1 -
Welcome to the forum.Look at your bills and find two actual meter readings a year apart. Not estimates, actual readings (customer, meter reader or smart meter). For electricity, the kWh consumption is just the difference in meter readings. For gas you have to convert the volume to kWh or add up the kWh on the relevant bills. You can convert the volume here.Once you have your annual kWh usage, go to the Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch' comparison websites and see what comes up. Remember that separate suppliers are often cheaper than dual fuel.Ignore all projections and savings claims: they are meaningless because of Ofgem's daft rules. Just compare annual costs with the annual costs with E.On. Never compare monthly DD amounts because they're only a contribution to a kitty which may or may not prove to be sufficient to pay the bills.Don't forget to come back and tell us how it went.1

You need to submit regular readings if your smart meter is not doing it check your bills to make sure they are on actual usage not estimated
Check the unit rate and standing charge you having to pay and check comparison sites CA and Which are good
https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/
https://switch.which.co.uk/
Also check for separate suppliers as well as dual fuel

Goggins43 said:Thank you so much ,that all sounds very complicated ☺️It's not nearly as hard as you think, and the savings can be significant. When you've done your homework, you can always come back here if you're unsure or have any questions.Citizens Advice also has a list of Customer Service ratings, and many suppliers have 'Add your feedback on ...' threads on this forum.1

Goggins43 said:Thank you so much ,that all sounds very complicated ☺️No it isn't.Get 12 months of bills out, find out what your meter readings were on the first bill, then find one 12 months later, take the higher figure away from the lower and that's your usage. Simple as. So if Jan 20 has electricity reading of 10000 and Jan 21 has a meter reading of 12500, you electricity usage is 12500-10000=2500. Same for gas.You can then pump those usage figures into a comparison site which will give you a better idea of what else is out there tariff wise.1

Easier than it sounds, find a quiet place and an hour or two
Also check whether you have exit fees to pay, it's a bad time to look for cheaper better deals as wholesale costs are high hence unit prices to customers so look for a supplier with a no exit fee switch and check again spring summer when fingers crossed better deals will be along
Good Luck0 -

As Gerry1 has said now look at an old bill where the readings have the letter A against them - perhaps the ones you gave Eon when you switched.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
You lot are amazing ,and very patient ,thank you ....does 4533 kilowatts in a year sound about right for electric ??0
