Green Network Energy dispute resolution

Options
Hello all. I’ve just read about GNE going under. I have been in dispute with them over the past few months as the amount they initially said I would pay when I switched via this site has shot up from £80pcm to £120+ with a very significant account debit which has increased with each month I have been with them . Does anyone have an idea about how this situation is likely to be handled?

    I'm afraid that the value of your D/Debit payment is just a contribution to the billing, it's not a contract that you pay this and use all the power you like.
    Use the amount of Energy that the D/Debit value was based on and all is well - Use more Energy and and the account is in debt.
    Check all the bills you have had from GNE to establish the true financial position

    You only have a valid reason for a dispute if you are being charged
    * at the wrong per Kw rate, or
    * for more units than you are using
    Just because your direct debit is insufficient to cover the cost of the power you are using is not grounds for dispute - it means you need to either
    * increase your DD or
    * reduce your usage
    Have you been reading the meter(s) and checking that the bills are based on accurate meter readings?

    All complaints, disputes, and agreed remediation are kicked into the long grass. Your account - flaws ‘n’ all - will be transferred to the SoLR. The SoLR process will agree an opening and closing meter reading. The cost of the energy consumed whilst you were with GNE will then be calculated based on your consumption; standing charges and unit costs from which all DD payments made will be deducted. The balance will then become your starting balance with the SoLR. The advice to read your meters is sound: it is so that you can check that the SoLR has calculated a correct opening/closing reading.

    It is unlikely that the SoLR will entertain any discussion about past DD payments as they were not a party to your GNE contract.

    Any debt will carry forward.
