Making several payments before statement is due
Hi, I have made several payments this month on my credit card as I was approaching my spending limit but still wanted to use it as I don't use my debit card for purchases. Obviously these payments were not due and my spending shows as being well over my credit limit. Will this affect my account/credit rating in a negative…

AA Rewards Visa Card
I recently applied for the AA Rewards Visa card. I've done a search on this forum and it seems there have been problems with an AA Rewards Plus card but not sure if this is the same thing. According to the AA website, as an AA member I should get 2 points per £1 spent on fuel and motoring and 1 point per £1 on all other…

What to do with my credit cards?
Hi, I have about four cards that finally have zero balances but I've heard mixed comments about whether I should cancel them and rule out the temptation of using them again or keep them open as it makes my credit rating better. Please can you advise on what I should do because I'm worried about the temptation but also the…

This is a story for others to be aware of as much as me looking for advice on whether I can get my money back. All the following transactions took place on my VISA Debit Card. I went to Albefeira recently on a stag do and made the customary trip to a strip club after an all day drinking session. I bought some drinks using…

Stupid question, but couldn't find an existing thread/article...
When you make a purchase on a credit card, is there a period where interest isn't applied? Eg if you buy something on 1st Dec then pay your balance in full when it's next due on 30th Dec, is any interest applied or is there a set amount of time before the purchase starts attracting interest?

How long to wait?
Hi, As I post this, I realise I'm probably being impatient. I applied for a Capital One Classic credit card about a week ago and haven't heard anything. When would be the best time in your opinion, to call up and ask what the status is? Just getting worried they've forgotten me!

Claiming back credit charges....confused
I took out a credit card with Capital One in November 1999. I believe that this was mis-sold. I didn't even realise that I had the ppi when I was having treatment for cancer, and called them to say that I was late in paying as I was ill. They did not inform me that I had the ppi. I would like to try and reclaim my charges,…

Tenant or homeowner?
Hello there, Thinking of applying for a 0% balance transfer card, and (might sound a bit daft) but not sure what to put as residential status. Husband and I own a house that we rent out, and rent a flat ourselves in another part of the country. So effectively I am a homeowner and a private tenant. I have done the…

Capital One World card- changed the 5% offer?
Did anyone else apply for a Capital One World Mastercard 3 or 4 months ago? I knew that I would be bookng a holiday as well as christmas presents in the first three months so I knew I…

Payments on cancelled credit cards
Does anyone know whether retailers can still charge to cancelled credit cards? I've paid off a couple in full and cancelled them recently, but I'm worried that some forgotten automatic yearly renewal will kick in for something (e.g. tastecard, which happened last month) and that a retailer will try and charge one of those…
