Enlightenment required! :D
Hey. I stray away from things like Loans and Credit Cards but 4-5 months ago Barclays called me and offered me a credit card with £500 limit on it. I was on the phone just a minute ago to Barclaycard in India and I think the guy got me, and himself confused. So just to clear this up... I was told that for every purchase I…

Barclaycard Returned DD
Has this happened to anyone? I paid a lump sum off my balance during the month, a lot more than what was my minimum payment due. On my online banking my minimum payment reverted to £0 on my due date. I assumed (stupidly as i now realise) that no DD would be taken but it was. I didn't have the funds to cover it so was…

My daughter has lived in her house for over a year now and keeps getting letters for someone who owes a lot of money, from various debt collecting agencies, as the debt is passed aroound. As this debt is attached to her house (but not her name) will this affect her credit rating in the future? She has contacted these…

Rejected for Sainsburys credit card
Hi, I just appiled to get a new credit card with Sainsburys but it came back as unsucessful. Strange thing is I've just got a mortgage and my credit was fine for that. Halifax Creditcard cancled
I received a letter from Halifax credit card services that they will not renew my card till the debt on the card is cleared, but my interest rate stays the same. I'm all for paying it off, and since I haven't used the card for well over a year I'm fine with not being able to use it. I'm just wondering since you pay a…

Credit Improving CC
Hi, not sure if this is a silly question. I want to improve my credit rating. I'm on the edge of being debt free, and have just got a credit card which I just intend to buy one thing a month and then pay off. My question is, if I buy something, say, today, does it make any difference if I pay it off tomorrow, or at the end…

BT Credit Card
I need to do my own research on this I know but I wondered if anyone has the answer. I've had this card for a few years and it gives me monthly cashback in the form of a credit towards my BT 'phone bill. Last year I realised that the cashback stops for two months out of the twelve and the card people said that I could…

Denied credit, but (fairly) high income, no faults
Hey Everyone, I see a lot of people struggling to get credit in the forums - as lots of other people I am getting very frustrated with being refused credit. However, I really don't understand why - to me it seems like a catch 22, to get credit you need a credit score, and visa versa. Apparently, the assessment on credit…

Best Prepaid Visa/Mastercard - for small amounts?
As per the title, I am trying to find out what would make for the best value in terms of a prepaid card - that would only be loaded by £14/£32/£60? I am thinking in terms of costs for withdrawal at either atms in within the UK or in Europe. Also - what happens in an instance where it's impossible to withdraw the full…

About 3 months ago I visited Zurich and stayed at the Ibis Hotel. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to authorise my credit card for overseas used, so the hotel asked to me to put a holding deposit of CHF1000 against incidental spending on my debit card. This I duly did and entered my PIN accordingly. It was my uinderstanding…

write off credit cards
Has anyone heard of a company called Highbridge Investments LP Inc based in Guernsey? I received a cold telephone call from them asking if I had credit cards issued pre 2007. They said they can take the card debt off me and I will then have no debt and nothing to pay! Sounds fishy to me. Also discovered they have links…

I phoned my bank today intending to increase my loan with them from ~£1.5k to £5k and clear my £3.5k outstanding on my credit card (half @ 16.9% half at 0%).
