Hi,
I just appiled to get a new credit card with Sainsburys but it came back as unsucessful. Strange thing is I've just got a mortgage and my credit was fine for that. I pay everything by Direct Debit so never miss payments.
Any ideas why I would have been rejected? How will my mortgage impact my credit rating?
Cheers

I've currently got an MBNA card, used to be a Sony one but they changed it. Yes I've just moved and have yet to make my first mortgage payment. I'm on the electoral register at my old address so will make sure that is changed, the council tax people said they'd sort that but will double-check.
I thought it may be a case of waiting for things to "settle down", could just do with getting a 0% credit card to transfer my balance from the MBNA one. I'll probably just have to wait a bit.0 -
You should appear on the electoral roll from 1 december (if you notified the council in time), but it will take usually a month, and often 2months+ for that to be reflected on your credit files.
And it usually takes a month or so for all your current creditors to update your credit file with your new address (assuming you've given them your new address details by now).
Perhaps check your credit file in a couple of months and then consider applying again after that.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Only updated my details in the last week so probably all won't be showing on my credit report yet.
Thanks, I will try again in a month or 2.0 -
Also, credit card companies are not obliged to give you a card even if you have a good credit history.
They will have their own idea of their 'perfect customer' and sometimes, it isn't you.0
