Egg to Barclaycard transition - NEW

Options
I thought I would start a new thread as the old one is now difficult to read.

My observations to date.

1. Did I get card and PIN? - Yes EVENTUALLY!

2. Was I able to log on to new Barclaycard site without problems? - Yes

3. Was I able to use the card without problems? - Yes

4. Have I been able to use the cards online without problems? - Yes

5. Was my cashback calculated correctly? NO to begin with but YES now.

6. Have I been charged interest in error? - NO

7. Direct debit - has correct amount been debited to account? - YES

Conclusion - the transition has gone as smoothly as could be expected given the number of card holders they had.

Hope it continues is all I can say.
The statements are clearer (pending transactions and all) with more information.

My vote is for Barclaycard - well done so far!

  • My DD for the full amount is due to be taken tomorrow. I'll withhold final judgement until then. :D

  • Mine went ok today!

Mine will go this week too.

I mailed them and despite an automated response saying that it might take 3 days instead of the usual 24hrs, they responded in under 24hrs saying everything is all set up and ready to go. I've kept that email very safe, just in case. ;)
  • My first payment is due on December 6th - no dd showing on bank account but all correct info showing with Barclaycard but today I've received an email from Barclaycard 'reminding' me (in big pink letters!) that payment is now due which is just a little off-putting; it does go onto acknowledge that 'Finally, if you have already set up a direct debit, please remember that your payment will be made on or before the payment due date.' but as this is my main card I'm feeling just a little apprehensive......fingers crossed all will be fine and I will report back on the 6th.

Exactly what I had, and it unsettled me too.

Why not send them a secure message just to check? They've extended their SLA from 24hrs to 3 days, but responded quickly for me. Might put your mind at rest.
  • My DD was due yesterday (and I also received the reminder e-mail a while back). I was nervous as I checked Barclaycard throughout the day and it was only reflected in the evening. Nevertheless, everything is fine and no interest was charged. I hate, however, the fact that you cannot change your DD date, I'd feel much happier if I could bring it forward to at least one day, or a few days, before the 'due by' date.

I wouldn't worry too much about the date. If you have a DD set up the onus is on Barclaycard to request payment in time. This should be an absolute defence against late payment charges.

I posted almost exactly the same on the old thread yesterday!

Anyway, if it's any comfort to NatWest customers I phoned my "branch" and the lady confirmed that there was a DD initialised to Barclaycard (so they received the instruction) but won't appear in online banking until it's actually been charged and becomes active.
  • Is anyone able to access their statements online?
    I can only see from 7th Nov:mad:
    What use is this?
I usually use the credit card statement to do company's accounts and alot of the expenses are paid through personal cc- accts run Jun to May now i am unable to access any of previous egg statements
I have never had any problem with Egg but have a massive o/s balance which I have no access to see what it is. This is 4th phonecall to Barclaycard previous times I have been assured I could see statements online when cards arrived to log in. Today I had to call again regarding log in problems then again because I couldn't see statements only to be told I wont be able to see anything before 7th Nov:mad::mad:
I am now away to write a letter to head office as I have been told that there is no telephone or email address for this

My last statement is still showing as +£153 when it should have been
-£153 on the 'available credit' (ac) thermometer, which is the best I can decribe it, due to a refund putting me effectively in credit. This ac is however now correct, whereas before it was not. The so called 'secure messaging' I got by return to my formal complaint could not tell me this however, so it still beggars belief that an entity as big as Barclays can still report erroneously, ie getting their basic maths incorrect.
