On a more positive note; thumbs up for a Faster Payments to Barclaycard working fine - gonna save me 2 days interest each time!
I'm clearing a bit of a balance at the moment and want to be able to pay it off as soon as possible as and when I get the money so I did a test payment yesterday and all went through; credited the same day and showing on the account this morning.0 -

That's not Barclaycard's fault - the retailer obviously haven't updated their systems with the new card number range.0 -

So exactly whose responsibility is this?
Surely the retailer needs to be informed of the new range. By Whom? Mastercard or Barclaycard?
I have a complaint already open with Barclaycard this, but I'm not sure how the process works.0 -
It's the retailer's responsibility to keep their systems up to date, not Barclaycard's! I'm pretty sure that MasterCard provide weekly lists of new (and invalid) card number ranges and the new Barclaycard numbers would have been put in this well before November 7th.0

I'm not sure how you expect us mere mortals to know how the internals of the system works !!!! - attitude expressed by exclamation marks :-)I'm pretty sure that MasterCard provide weekly lists of new (and invalid) card number ranges and the new Barclaycard numbers would have been put in this well before November 7th.
Now you have provided this info I will chase Esso as well, but before this I had no idea how it works, and no crystal ball either !!!!!
Thanks for enlightening us but I see no need to take an attitude.
Barclaycard have overal had LOADS of problems, so when there was an issue it was entirely natural that we would turn to them to query why our cards don't work.0 -
I had the same problem with the payment date.
I've now got it sorted (hopefully) - but only insisting to speak to a supervisor who took the time to understand the problem and fix it for me. The first agent told me there was no system to when statements and payments were taken and she couldn't confirm any dates. She said (her words) "it was random"
Anyway, with Egg, my statement was always issued on the 13th of the month, and the payment was the 1st (my work pay day being a few days earlier on the 28th). With Barclaycard they issue the statement on the xth working day of the month, and then take payment 19 working days later. The problem is none of their agents know this, all other Barclaycard accounts get a long period between the statement and payment, something like 28 working days - hence they're all calculating it wrong. Unfortunately the migration also got it at a bit wrong for some, and they wound up pulling the payment forward by a few days.
If you want payment to be taken at the start of the month, get them to issue the statement on the 15th working day of the month.0 -
They are only following Egg's pattern of 19 days. My statement date was always the 5th and payment taken on 24th. It's just moved forward a day this month to the 6th, although payment this month is 28th Dec due to xmas.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

I know - but after the transfer, my statement date had changed forward to the 11th, so the payment moved forward too. When I asked them to correct it, they moved it forward again so that it was before my pay day. My credit card statement is the biggest bill I pay each month - it has to go out AFTER my pay day. Their migration screwed it up, and then the agents made it worse.0

I thought my Egg to Barclaycard transition was going well until...
My direct debit disappeared days before the first payment was due!
There was a new DD showing on the Barclaycard menu with a payment date (another inconvenient one albeit) a few days ago.
Recently that has been replaced by a "Pay now" menu with the invitation of setting up a direct debit...well thanks for that.
I managed to make a card payment in time but am none to chuffed at this rather cheeky move, I'm quite tempted to find another card provider if stunts like this are the norm?0 -
Same thing happened to me recently but it was because I had deleted the old Egg DD (as I presumed it was no longer needed). Deleting it also deleted the Barclaycard DD, which had already been set up. Fortunately I noticed in time and made a card payment.0
