Barclaycard Returned DD

Options
Has this happened to anyone?

I paid a lump sum off my balance during the month, a lot more than what was my minimum payment due.

On my online banking my minimum payment reverted to £0 on my due date.

I assumed (stupidly as i now realise) that no DD would be taken but it was. I didn't have the funds to cover it so was returned.

Will i lose my 0% deal because of the returned DD or will i keep it seeing as i still made a payment of more than what was required this month?

Thanks.

Well you really need to ask the provider, but as payment was made I can't see that they can penalise you for not paying.
Are there charges for returning DD's or just late payments?
If there is a specific charge for failed DDs, then you might face a charge, but you didn't miss a payment so I can see that it should affect your deal or credit rating.

However the people to ask are Barclays.
  • It depends when you paid the money manually, if you paid it to close to the DD date the DD would of still been taken
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
  • Why make a manual payment before a D/D was taken?
It is asking for trouble if you ask me - make additional payments straight after!

If you made the payment too close to the DD date, then the DD will still be taken. If the DD bounces, you'll be charged £8. If that fee causes you to go overdrawn, you'll get an "Unauthorised overdraft" charge and then interest on top of all that.

So it's really not worth doing. Wait for the DD to come out and THEN make the additional payments.
