Switching a 'dead' account
Fairly new to the site, although some of the methods I've been using without realising it. Does it cause problems if you switch an inactive account to another bank? I currently use a Natwest graduate account with a £1000 overdraft (reducing to £500 in June). I'm not keen on the idea of using the limit of my overdraft (I…

Can you cash a cheque which has no date?
I wrote a cheque out for this years ISA but I'm almost 100% sure I forgot to put the date on it. I was wondering if anyone knows if this cheque can be cashed. I've read other posts which say the date is irrelevant (mostly to do with post dated cheques) however this is a little different as there is no date at all on the…

Beware of transfering foreign money into the Alliance and Leicester
We have just sold a timeshare interest that we had in Florida, and obviously the money was wired into our account by the agent in the US. We wrongly assumed that we would get the mid-market rate of USD to GBP (About 1.985 at the time), bearing in mind it was an electronic wire transfer. However the A&L decided to steal our…

Can you request that an account not be allowed to be overdrawn?
Does anyone know if it's possible to request (Nationwide in this case) not to allow a Flex account to ever go overdrawn? Specifically, I'm wondering if it's possible to prevent anyone who obtained Visa Debit card details from running up debt on the account. Or if not Nationwide, do any banks have this facility? Thanks Fella
