Your available balance should be deducted immediately following a purchase, however the fund will normally be cleared from your account within 1-3 working days.
Maestro (Switch) and Visa (Delta) takes longer than Solo and Electron to process.0 -
Both Maestro and Solo both take about a day or two, sometimes less, to deduct from my account.0

A day to 6 months depending on the retailer and the system they use.
Dont assume that you will always get an earmark on the balance. That does not always occur.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I forgot to pay my Bank of Scotland credit card bill due this Monday.
Checked with BScot, they said fastest way for them to get payment was paying using debit card & that payment could arrive next day
So paid it yesterday (Friday) using their Automated Debit Card payment system.
Now not sure, if I should have spoken to & paid through customer advisor so they can put payment through using manual system, if possible, rather than automated system which may be processed later.
Now, they say it could take 3-4 working days, so may get hit with late payment charge !!

The 3-4 working days thing is just to cover their !!!!!! in case the payment doesn't get through in time. In reality, it's usually taken a day or two for me.0
