Rebel energy debt from rental property.
Our rental property was switched across to British Gas on 4th January 2024, by our estate agent then returned to octopus on 7th March 2024 whilst the property was vacant. We have recently received a demand for payment from rebel through our estate agent dated 2025. Both our estate agent and octopus have our details but…

Should decent off-peak electricity rates be available to everyone, not just EV owners?
I’ve recently been looking into energy tariffs while considering a home battery and possibly solar, and I’ve hit something that doesn’t quite sit right. From what I’ve read, only around 55% of UK households have a driveway — which effectively means access to an EV charger, and in turn, access to some of the best off-peak…

Is there a slimline heat pump?
I've been considering a heat pump, but the only place I could install one is along the side of my semi-detached house, which has 1.3m to the fence and I need to be able to get past to go to my side gate. The issue is that the units typically have single large front-mounted fans which need clearance at the front and back…

Home Energy sticking to opening "industry read" (double charged units?)
A couple of months ago, I switched to Home Energy for electricity. Despite having a smart meter and the previous supplier using the correct reading for the closing read (ending '115'), Home Energy insist on using an "industry" opening read (ending '095') meaning there's a double charge of around 20 units (they are charging…

Octopus or Eon?
Moved into a new property Friday and the old supplier is Eon. Wanted to stick with British gas but they wanted an estimate of £300 a month. When researching the best deal, it was octopus who estimated £188 a month but have explained if the usage goes up or down then they will just adjust the direct debit. I’ve had a call…

Installing a electric charging port at home
I’ve recently got an electric car and now looking into getting a charging point installed at home. I remember a few years ago there were quite generous grants available (or even free installations in some cases), but not sure what the situation is now. Does anyone know if there are still any schemes available to reduce the…

Plug in solar
https://www.euronews.com/green/2024/07/23/solar-balconies-are-booming-in-germany-heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-popular-home- There was an item on radio four about a booming trend of pug in solar, in Germany. I got the impression that you just plug it into your 13amp socket and it gets used by your appliances. Have…

Cheap Energy Club
just checked my tariff, but it seems the recent reduction in kWh hasn’t been updated for Fuse so double check before you take the plunge. In my case there doesn’t appear to any cheaper tariffs when using my new kWh price which is .2007p. Standing charge remains the same.

Home Energy variable vs Octopus fixed
so I’ve read through Martin’s advice and any threads but still struggling to figure out what to do. We are on the Home Energy variable tariff which is a discounted vs price cap tariff. Currently averaging around 10% below cap. With July price cap looming is it worth sticking with it (hoping that even if price goes up it…

smart meters
Is there any way to trace my smart meter history. I had a smart meter installed before the pandemic. After a few years I was getting constant emails asking me for a meter reading. That shouldn't have been necessary. In October, last year an engineer spent all day replacing everything and I was given another, exactly the…

SSEN Connections
A few years ago I requested my electric meter be moved. I lived in a farmhouse and the meter was in a barn belonging to someone else. I was initially told because I paid the bill for both meters it was my supply and moving the supply cable at a cost of 500 pounds. Paid it, then was told that I would have to install a…

IHD help.
GGood Morning. I am with Fuse Energy. My smart meters have not worked since I joined them last summer. I eventually got them to agree to fit new meters which are now working. I have noticed that my IHD no longer works. When I contacted Fuse they said tough luck basically and that I don't need it as I can check things on…

Cheap-rate electricity sounds great in theory, but how do people actually remember?
I get the idea of using electricity at the cheaper times, and in theory it makes total sense. But in real life I think the hardest part is just remembering at the right moment. It’s easy to say “run the washing machine later” or “wait until the cheaper period”, but day to day I think most people just forget or get busy.…

how to find a energy provider who offers variable DDs
Just that really. I want to have a variable DD but when I look on different providers' website there no indication to say they offer these. On the energy club comparison page there are some providers (i.e. Fuse) that say they only offer variable DDs but they are not necessarily ones I want to go with due to high exit fees…
