1st Central Car Insurance scam
I chose 1st Central Car Insurance after they appeared as the cheapest quote on Compare the Market. However, my experience has been extremely disappointing and concerning. Approximately one week after purchasing the policy, I was asked to provide multiple documents for verification, with a warning that failure to do so by a…

Insurance company - Campervan/day van/Motorhome Insurance withdraw +re-register
I have been insured with the same insurer since 2017 and now they are threatening to withdraw my vehicle insurance. It is a 20 year old Devon Campervan and the V5 shows it and always has shown it as a van, now my insurer states that they will withdraw my insurance in 45 days! (I have been in disagreement and correspondance…

Can I appeal a fine for entering a restricted route
There is a morning restriction to cars for a road that comes off a roundabout near me in South London. I only noticed the signage late after coming off the (small) roundabout and felt it would be dangerous to try and stop so I immediately did a U turn after I had entered. The photo obviously shows me entering but if the…

Inaccurate data (Autodata) used to service car
Hi I wanted to ask whether anyone else had experience where a dealer is using data and information from Autodata to service vehicles where the data is actually not in line with dealers recommendations. I have two examples. Autodata has the incorrect tyre pressures for my car. I raised this 2-years ago, it is still wrong.…

MOT Basic Emission Test
Does this test result tell me anything about my engine? It's passed with an opacity of 0.70 the RPM was 715 and 3686 It states that the fast pass limit is 0.90 and the default is 1.50 My 2l Vivaro has done 82k miles, is 0.70 a good result, and I assume a lower result means a cleaner and less worn engine?

Cleaning cars - Tyre Black rec
I spend a decent amount of time cleaning the various cars in our household but have fallen out with my usual tyre black product. Obviously I can Google but any recs for decent tyre black products that people here have used would be very welcome. Thanks

Day van for under £6k?. where do I start ..lol
Hi We have been looking for a used SWB van or maybe mpv to use as a day van. Ideally we want one with sliding doors. Probably only about 5k miles a year. We dont intend to sleep in it just use it for day trips with our 3 dogs with some seats at the front, some seats right at the back and the space in the middle for our…

Kent speeding ticket
Oops, OH has somehow managed the impossible, speeding on the approach to the Dartford tunnel. 58 in a 50mph zone. Not enough traffic holdups. He's been online and filled in all his details, but hasn't received any acknowledgement he has done so. He's tried logging back in to check, but the system won't let him in now. Does…

Car Insurance Renewal Quotes
Hi there, Long story short, last year I moved to a house and took on a Tesla Model 3 on a lease with Arval, I have EU driving license and my wife as well as she is the second driver of the car and it was our first time getting insured on a car in the UK so the quote we had from Admiral (with their black box) through…

eBay car sale (private) & receiving bids - what next & how to safeguard against wasters?
So I've actually had someone meet my minimum offer. I've ended up dropping my price £400 from my starting point about a month ago. Looking at the bidding though, this guy came in with an offer an additional £450 underneath what I'm currently asking (£250 under the minimum amount set). He (I assume he) immediately sticks on…

Ombudsman Evidence do I have a smoking gun?
Good Evening forumites I realise I may sound silly or naive but it's really bugging me and I have no experience with the financial ombudsman so want to guage the likelihood of success with a right to reject within 6 months. I bought a Suzuki in January and it started displaying significant safety faults in March. In April…

SORN'd car parked outside
Sometime last week somebody dumped parked a 54 plate Mazda on the street right in front of my house. Just checked MOT status and it expires in May next year, but the car's tax status shows as SORN. Am I right it should not be on a public road?

Car Finance (Personal Lease) - Faulty Car
Hi, Last July we received a Skoda Enyaq Sportline through a personal lease agreement. However, immediately I noticed a steering issue. Long story short, VWS have accepted that there is now a known issue with this car and some others produced at that time, however, they have yet to identify what the issue actually is far…

Brake discs/ pads
I'm looking to buy front discs and pads for my Golf. Do the TMD brands differ from each other in terms of quality and do they compare with Brembo. I believe TMD are now producing Eicher for Euro, hows the quality there. I'll be fitting them myself.

At-fault insurer (INSHUR) lowball total loss payout offer and pre accident damage fabrication.
Hi all, looking for some advice/sanity-checking on a ridiculous third-party claim ordeal. On 31 01 26, I was sideswiped by a driver who made an illegal overtake. I have dashcam footage of the aftermath where he admits fault, and the police attended. I claimed directly against his insurer, INSHUR (acting for WAKAM), as a…

Should I claim on my insurance?
Yesterday a noticed a scratch in the paintwork down both passenger side doors. Clearly someone scraped against the car when it was parked and drove off. Very annoying. I’m trying to decide whether to claim on the insurance. I have fully comprehensive, but here's why I'm hesitant: In January, I slid on ice at a junction…

Perusing for replacement car
Our current car (Corsa) is now 18 years old and, despite it only doing 71k miles, I feel a newer car should be considered. Not right now but within the next 12 months. The last time I bought a new car was 2005 and the current one was bought 2011. So much has changed since then. I want a hatchback (not a fan of SUVs or…

Anxiety about long drive
In a few weeks I will be driving from the North West down to Wembley Stadium and back again in a day and for some reason I've developed really bad anxiety. I am a good driver, I've had my licence for 15 years almost after passing whilst in college and I've done other long drives to places such as Newcastle and the Harry…

Breakdown Cover when taking car abroad
Hello - we do family holidays by taking ferry and driving around france and spain - previously i've got breakdown cover for Europe on our insurance for the year. But last year I actually read the cover and to be honest it wasn't worth the paper it was written on - something like 20km to the nearest garage and the you're on…
