Invest or save
I have a lump sum to invest and have been advised 50% into smoothed PRU fund (risk level 2) and 50% into a mutual fund (risk level 3). I've tried to understand it all but feeling overwhelmed and now considering just half of the money into PRU as a form of saving for retirement and keeping the rest in savings with no risk.…

My son has just over 4K in a children’s savings account with Bank of Scotland, the decent rate ended ages ago and we need to move the money elsewhere to make it work a bit better. What would your recommendations be please? Does it have to be a children’s saver or would it be more beneficial to invest in an adult account in…

Investing in uncertain times and diversifying
I was speaking with someone recently and they scared me with talk about the Iran war and everything happening globally. It made me panic sell my holdings, not at a loss, but I reduced my profit. I had over £300k in index funds. What do others invest in during times like this? I do want to start my own business eventually,…

Zopa Biscuit account
I've just opened a Zopa Biscuit account, after MSE recommendation, and have had massive problems from the word go, including inability to access the money we've transferred in and now they have closed their telephone helpline due to 'technical issues'. This means that we currently have no access to significant amounts of…

Zopa Regular Savings question
I've just opened a Biscuit account in order to get access to the 7.1% regular saver. On the Zopa app home page I've tapped on "hit your savings goals sooner with up to 7.1%" and then "open an account now". It then prompts me to "start application" but it's talking about Smart Saver. I don't understand how you apply for the…

Hi. I have three JISAs for my children, which wer invested with the Woodward Equity Income fund, suspended in 2019. As I could not contribute any more funds, I opened a further three with AJ Bell in 2019. Are your weekend Faster Payments giving the banks an interest free loan? WARNING THIS IS BALONEY!
Never too late to learn I suppose. I always avoided standing orders to fund regular savers as I understood that the payment if paid on the weekend did not arrive until the next bank working day usually Monday. Whereas if I manually made a FP or internal transfer on a weekend it arrived in the destination account that day…
