Pension Planning for having too much pension.
Before everyone loses their marbles and shoots me down about having 'too much pension', here's the thing. I've used company pension payments over the course of 10-15 years to reduce corporation tax - using the maximum each year on two people to increase our private pensions and reduce our corporation tax. We have been…

How do I find out which banks are grouped together?
With regards to an easy access savings account. I know the FSCS will protect £170,000 for joint accounts. If you had the same amount (170k ish) in 3 accounts how do you make sure the banks aren't linked so you would in theory get overall protection of the large sum rather than if some institutions are linked so the…

Issues with Raisin savings platform who refuse to say why they can't invest money. Are they a con?
Just want peoples thoughts. My son has opened an account with the savings platform Raisin. They act as a third party to a number of banks and is a Money Saving Expert best buy. He placed money into a Raisin account where my son gets to decide which institution Raisin will forward the money to. First he selected ISbank…

Have I made a mistake with Plum
I opened a Plum account to take advantage of their ISA interest rate and have maxed it out for the year and I'm happy with that. However I was seduced by the interest rate of the Plum Interest account and moved some other money over to it. I'm now thinking that was a mistake as it's not a simple easy access saving account…

Platform Charges - ETFs vs OEICs
Hi, Just something I keep wondering. Across most platforms, ETF charges are higher for buying and selling, but many cap their custody charges for ETFs but not for OEICs. I know its not universal, but I don't think any are the other way round with lower custody charges for OEICs and lower dealing charges for ETFs. Just…

From PropertyMoose to UKDiversified
Hi, Basically i had some shares in a company called PropertyMoose which was a property company that rented out properties. Cooperative Bank's Sustainability Savings Bond 9.5% 2024
I had an email from what looks like a legit coop website, detailing a new round of bonds at 9.5% which seems like a good return for stashing your money away for 5 years. I can't find much information online about them. I am surprised as it seems like a good return (too good to be true? I always like to do due diligence…

Finding decent IFA without word of mouth?
Hi I've always thought the best way to find out a 'contractor' is to use a combination of trusted reviews, word of mouth and finalising it with a taste test (like meeting a builder before pressing ahead). Anyway, in the last few years I used word of mouth to find an IFA, a private pension adviser and two mortgage brokers…
