SIPP v Stocks and Shares ISA
I read that only 15% of UK adults have a stocks and shares ISA as most don't understand them. I've spent today trying to understand how these work. I'm late 50s and due to working part time as I was a lone parent, my nhs pension will be 'adequate'. Lump sum as of March 2024 statement is sitting at £30000 and monthly…

NS&I's one and five-year British Savings Bonds are back
NS&I has refreshed its range of fixed-term 'British Savings Bonds' by bringing back its one-year and five-year options and boosting rates. Its new deals are strong across the board, especially if you're looking to save with a well-known name – though you can earn a bit more from the top-paying accounts elsewhere... Read…

Loanpad P2P - Reviews, experiences, info or updates, post them here. I'm having a dabble.
Morning all I've seen this name pop up a couple of times in various threads, but can't see that there is a dedicated thread for them. I've had a quick look at their website, and on the face of it, it seems like a pretty good deal, somewhere between cash and a S&S ISA. I realise that capital is at risk, and the interest…

Advise on moving ISA's
I have had a yearly ISA with Lloyds which started off at £20,000 two years ago which did accumulate around £98 a month in interest at 5.5%. In September last year I automatically renewed it but the rate had dropped to 4.5% but because I now had £26,000 in the ISA the interest still worked out the same per month. My ISA is…

Index-Linked Savings Certificates Growth Calculation
I appreciate that I am probably in the dying-breed of people hanging onto Index-Linked Savings Certificates, however, I do not understand how the growth is calculated (I thought I did!). One of my certificates recently matured and the growth seemed rather low. I queried how growth is calculated and received the attached…

Are there any millionaires who contribute to MSE?
And do any of them attribute any of their achievement to the advice and guidance given and available on here? I'm some way short of that target but I do feel it's possible. Thoughts?

General Discussion and Whimsical Banter
It was only a matter of time. Personally I've never minded the off-topic comments in the main threads to discuss top easy access and regular savings accounts, but I can see it's becoming a greater problem given that there just isn't a whole lot going on in the top end of the savings accounts market right now and possibly…

My Portfolio
Here’s what I did......for comment, to adapt or ignore. Following the markets correction in April, I decided to put together a new portfolio, something that I was going to be very comfortable with and one that befits my advancing years. I had several objectives, all of which have been met. The most significant is my desire…

Are share prices the same on every platform?
Hi all Probably an obvious question, but are share prices the same on every platform? I used Interactive Investor for years and just switched my ISA to IG (because it’s completely free as long as I make one trade a month, which I do anyway for regular investing). However it just got me thinking, how can IG offer the entire…

Employee Share Incentive Plan (SIP) - taxation after redundancy
Hi, I'm looking for some help. I had a share incentive plan (SIP) with my employer (I made monthly contributions and was given matching shares and dividend shares) from 2015 but was made redundant in 2020. As such I understand there was no income or other tax to pay at the time of my redundancy. I'm now thinking of selling…

Virgin Money Regular Saver
I have the 10% regular saver from last summer. I've been paying the max £250 in each month. Can I not make any more payments and just leave what's there accruing interest at 10% until it matures please? Or do I have to continue making a minimum payment?

Top Easy Access acs Ranked: Top of The Pots - **No Chat**
I've had a few suggestions/requests to start a separate 'No Chat' thread, as the ToTP list gets drowned in 'chat' in the 'Top Easy Access discussion' thread.
