Fit again in 2017
Hey all, I'm sure many of us started the year with plenty of new year resolutions dotted down which I'm sure included a few fitness/Health oriented goals. Would love to know what people are doing differently this time round whether it's dietary changes, different style of workout or any other change. Any luck with those…

5K in 5 weeks
Hello. I've started 5K in 5 weeks problem, I'm beginner. I had my second session yesterday and feel exhausted. My breath is deep. Is it normal to feel this way next day? I wasn't that tired yesterday, I mean, I was, but I recovered quickly, but today whole morning I feel just tired.

Home Rowing machines
I noticed that on another thread asking about cardio equipment that a couple of posters recommended rowing machines, and I agree that these are probably the best for whole body exercise. I've been looking for one for several months now but can't find anything suitable. We don't particularly want an air-resistance machine…

good value hiking boots?
Hi all - I'm on the lookout for some new walking boots; mostly for walking around the brecon beacons here in Wales so they need to handle water and snow okay, but I'd like something lightweight. There really seems to be a market gap however between all the cheap stuff that google throws up that all seems to be in sports…

David Lloyd referred me to debt collector for notice I didn't realise I had to give, please help! This is the first time I've posted on a forum, thanks in advance for any help I'll really appreciate it. Last January I paid David Lloyd up front for a 12 month membership. I was of course tied in because I'd paid up front. I…

Miserly motivation
I've worked from home for ten years now, and could easily spend my lunch hour exercising every day, with no inconvenience or cost. So much better than a gym! But do I? Well, it took me eight years to get into the habit, and it was a pretty half-assed habit at best. It was not the lack of specialist equipment which hindered…

Suggestions for trekking boots for Kilimanjaro
Hi, I'd be grateful for any suggestions for a new pair of trekking boots for a male aged 39 which anyone may be able to suggest. My knowledge around boots is very minimal so any pointers/links are appreciated. The boots will be used to climb Kilimanjaro in May. That is the rainy season, so waterproof is a key feature as it…

Bluetooth headphones
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any Bluetooth headphones for the gym. I have some plantronics backbeat ones but while they are great outside they just cant keep out the music the gym is blasting out which means my music is almost background. All the headphone reviews look at connectivity, battery life, and how…

David Lloyd HELP
Hi all, So I joined DL around this time last year on a 18-23 membership. I paid for the full year upfront, which works out at around £55 per month. They emailed me just before the end of the year to say that my annual renewal membership fee would be due in the next month, at the tune of around £115 a month, this is because…

Hi all Just wondering if anyone knows where I stand. I have a gym membership whereby I have to provide one months notice to leave. I currently pay £24pm but yesterday received an email confirming a price increase from March 1st to £30! I'm pretty sure I'm leaving for another gym but noticed that I'll have to pay the new…

Cold back when running
I'm following Couch 2 5K at the moment and for the first time in my life I reckon I could actually be a runner. Yesterday I was wearing infrared leggings (they reflect your body heat back at you, UnderArmour ColdGear but base layer rather than workout gear), shorts which won't count for anything except to maintain some of…

Get fit for free in London
Hi, we're just working on a new destination guide for London and I'm adding in a few ways to get fit for free. So far we're including Our Parks, some of the sports shops' fitness classes, free tennis courts and ParkRun, but I wondered if you've tried anymore that you think should be included? Thanks in advance, Megan

Best exercise Bike
The human body is an amazingly robust machine. Even if years and years of ignorance that have endorsed pound after pound of fat to fill out your structure, you can rid yourself of that lard at a lot faster rate than you brought it on board. You can either choose to attend gym, or try home fitness equipment like exercise…

Cycling for newbies!
I'm considering taking up cycling but was looking for some advice first. I've tried contacting a local community cycling group but not heard back from them yet. I don't know the first thing about cycling to be quite honest (I haven't cycled in probably 15 years when I was a child!) and I've never cycled on the road so to…

Looking for a good gym workout schedule
I'm mainly wanting to get rid of body fat but perhaps gain muscle at the same time. I'm just looking for a schedule I could work at with the gym without me overdoing it, but will do me some good at the same time, and some motivation towards it. I used to be around 15 and half stone when I was a teenager, but due to illness…
