People who are paying Gym members but aren't going to the gym, why aren't you going?

If you are a paying gym member but haven't been to the gym for a while, what's your reason? Why aren't you going to gym?

Why? I honestly don't see why this should even be discussed, as the majority of the times it is personal or private or both.

I joined in July 2014, and am still a member.

I had a break in September 2015 probably for a couple of months due to a serious concussion, but I continued paying my membership as I think I went the odd time.

This year, between the end of August and Christmas, I barely went once a week. This was because I worked away for a week (no gym nearby, the hotel one was naff) and got out of the routine. Then with the darker mornings, I struggled to get out of bed in the morning and before you know it the gym stopped being a priority. So did my WeightWatchers plan, to be fair.

Shortly before Christmas I realised how much of the lost weight I had put back on and it gave me the kick I needed to get back into both WeightWatchers and going to the gym 5x a week. We do have some weights at home and I've wondered about just using those, but I'm concerned that I wouldn't stick with it.
  • I had pneumonia. I've started to go back though.

I think a lot of people just forget about their memberships...

  • Both times it was because classes were cancelled or the instructors left and the replacements were so bad that they were unsafe.

I was trapped in a contract.

I think most people leave because of a lack of motivation or intimidation.

Rolling contract at our leisure centre, friend has family membership at £100 monthly. Yet she doesn't go now. Insane.

before I finally got around to cancelling my membership, years ago now, I was working on the principle that since I had paid I might go but if I was not signed up somewhere then I definitely wouldn't go. Kind of trying to guilt trip myself into exercising.

I'm super lazy...and really good at believing my own pathetic excuses.

Really need to find a way to get over it & get back to it. Wedding in less than 9 months

I get free gym membership through work and we have been told that we cannot use the gym during peak times throughout January and February. Those peak times just happen to be before and after work and at weekends. So I have a legitimate reason :rotfl:
