Wear light reflective clothes so oncoming traffic can see you. Is it literally pitch black or is there some light from surrounding properties? A head torch could be an option.0

was thinking of buying a headtorch from sports direct, but are they comfortable when running? i wouldn't want it slipping down while in motion lol.
there is very little light; the odd street light but i'm about 5-10 min drive to main town so it's semi-rural, but there stretch of pavement for half a mile or more which has no light and surrounded by countryside. i wouldn't run on the road, i would run on the pavement.0 -
I run with a hand held (wind up) torch. It's about 1-2 miles before reaching streetlights and pavements, but it's enough to get me there safely.0

modern head torches are pretty light and comfortable so i'd recommend one
if you have access to a treadmill in the winter that is the alternative if like me you live in the middle of nowhere with no street lights0 -
I'm running with my girlfriend together every morning.0

I run in a morning where there are no street lights.
Headtorch (decent one so you can see)

Decathlon do a chest light if you are worried about a head torch slipping

I'd recommend a head torch from Alpkit, I bought one from there a couple of years ago and run with it regularly.
Its only online but their kit is excellent.
Apart from that you just need some reflective clothing so you can be seen fro behind. Every so often they have that kind of thing in Aldi so its worth having a look.0 -
I run at night, never used a head torch, there are a few A roads the council have turned the lights off on but it doesn't bother me, I just stick to the pavements for these stretches of road.0

And tell somebody your route.0
