5K in 5 weeks

Options
Hello.
I've started 5K in 5 weeks problem, I'm beginner. I had my second session yesterday and feel exhausted. My breath is deep. Is it normal to feel this way next day? I wasn't that tired yesterday, I mean, I was, but I recovered quickly, but today whole morning I feel just tired.

  • I'd say pretty normal if you're just beginning at any fitness stuff the first few goes are always pretty unpleasant. I just started a new training programme and it left me totally busted on Monday :)

If you are exhausted, could be your food intake afterwards needs adjusting, or just your muscles adjusting. I used to do 10ks around 15 years ago and couldn't walk the day after, now recovery is much better, though I'm older as legs and muscles are more used to the running action.

Thanks for replying. I'm taking easy today and tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be fine for Monday and another run.
  • Your probably a few weeks on now but you should see rapid gains and improvements to begin with.

I generally like the idea of running every other day so you always get a recovery day in between runs.

Yes, I see improvement now, I can recover between runs quicker and don't feel bad in rest days. Still way to go.
  • Well done for sticking it out! Not long to go until you've made it to 5 weeks. What's next?

    Hello!
I've run 5,2 km yesterday, with two three minutes breaks. Gosh, I'm doing it, I'm doing it!
I feel much better now. I recover faster.
