Opinions and advice - what to do next!
Hi all, apologies straight of the bat as not sure where to post this!! My wife and I are debt free, have savings and don’t know what to do next! Maybe a bit of background information might help. We are in our 40's, have a son (aged 10), we have no debt whatsoever. Mortgage is paid off on a house roughly worth 450K, savings…

Nationwide did good for me.
Hi everyone. I just wanted to say that I made a complaint to Nationwide a few weeks ago and today they have given me £50. It wasn't a major complaint by any means but it was valid and the compensation was unexpected. So this is just a 'praise' message from me for them. They don't always get things right but if you let them…

Should non alcoholic wines, beers, stouts etc be treated as alcoholic drinks by supermarkets
Non alcoholic (alcohol reduced) wines, spirits, beers and stouts etc are treated by supermarkets in the UK as "Alcoholic drinks". They are excluded as an acceptable item when you have such things as "spend £30 and get £3 discount" etc or as currently with ASDA, the 10% discount with the Blue Light Card. This is a glaring…

Shocking Service by Local Independent Dealer
A month back I went to my local dealer to enquire about an amplifier and floor standing speakers I had an itch for to see what price they would come up with! The guy in charge managed to source the amp direct from the manufacturer, a return, and got a decent price, less than the river shop, as well as the speakers. I…

What goes on with Evri?
Had a parcel (item ordered via Amazon) delivered by Evri today. The driver made no attempt to ring the doorbell (I was in and waiting for said parcel) but just dropped it on the doormat and departed. I didn't even recieve a delivery text or email. Is this par for the course with Evri? I've not had a delivery from them…

Vent...No pick up area at stations!
So train stations now have drop off areas and pay by the day parking bays but nowhere to pick up arrivals and their luggage! I had to pick up in a taxi rank and was warned by a friendly taxi driver not to as there were cameras covering the area. Stopped for 3 mins and no penalty YET!

A family member who has a business had a random call today from Jacob Enforcements/ Harrow council saying they are baliffs from Jacob Enforcements and are coming to pickup either a £500 debt or they will take a car for payment. Problem is, my family member had no idea what the debt was and never had any letters, but it…

BEWARE ESTATE MANAGEMENT COVENANTS
WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR HOME IN South Wales ,OUR ENTHUSIASM AND EXCITEMENT AT MOVING INTO A NEW BUILD PROPERTY MADE US A LITTLE LESS CAUTIOUS THAN WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN. HAVING ALMOST COMPLETED THE TRANSACTION, A DEED OF COVENANT DOCUMENT WAS CASSUALLY PRODUCED AS A MINOR DETAIL OF A SMALL ANNUAL CHARGE TO ENSURE THE UPKEEP OF…

Amazon seller scams
I have found that some items advertised as "free delivery"in fact incur an often excessive delivery charge which only appears upon checkout,e.g.£10 delivery for a discounted £4 item. Of course this type of scam is a well known means of sellers purporting to sell items at a significant discount but adding the real price…

Warning: Fake Virgin Media on Twitter led to card fraud
I’d been in discussions with Virgin Media. I sent a DM to @VirginMedia on Twitter and stupidly gave my card details (although I had used this to place an order with them). It was a fake account and money started being used. Luckily Barclays were quick on spotting this. I’m being refunded and the card has been stopped.…

Money Expert cold caller
Just had a guy at the door of my girlfriend's house. Apparently following up complaints about internet problems locally (didn't ID himself). When I asked did he mean BT lines or cable he said both had been affected, did we have issues. Politely told him we were happy with what we had. As he turned away noticed he had…

Craft on Draft - vent
Went to Asda to pick up an ordered item & noticed a Craft on Draft area, presume a franchise renting space within Asda. Payment was direct to them, no cash & couldn't pay at Asda check-outs. Ales & cider not available on the high street (apparently). Bought 2 bottles of ale, bottled before I knew they charge £5 for the 2 x…

First Direct - Paying In? Pop To The Post Office!
I joined First Direct over 20 years ago. when it was a GREAT bank. I even encouraged friends etc to join it. Then about five years ago or so something changed. Although I have huge respect for Martin Lewis, he has got to stop referring to this bank as having great service, because it no longer has. I tried to pay in a lot…

New bad deal with Virgin and 02
Having recently spent the requisite week of my life trying to renegotiate my expired contract with Virgin I discovered regardless of the number of years you have been with them, their new ‘scam’ is that the only way you can have the discounts is to have an 02 SIM card ‘bundle’. I ended up with a SIM card I can’t use paying…
